On January 21 Beijing time, the Warriors officially announced that forward Jimmy Butler suffered a right ACL tear and will be sidelined for the rest of the 2025-26 season. The injury occurred during the third quarter with 7:41 remaining in the game against the Miami Heat yesterday. The Warriors secured a 135-112 victory. Butler is scheduled for surgery soon.

Before the Warriors made the announcement, Butler had already updated his social media by posting a photoshopped “general” picture of himself, accompanied by many Warriors game shots, writing: “44/82, I’ll be back soon!” This was a pun referring to a general named Soreness, but also meaning “full body soreness,” which in NBA injury reports usually implies the player is just tired or slightly uncomfortable, generally indicating no serious injury.

Butler also replied to fans in the social media comments: “Thank you all for the blessings.” Additionally, in an Instagram story, he didn’t forget to celebrate Curry’s selection as an All-Star starter, captioning the post: “Batman, All-Star starter @Curry.”

So far this season, Butler has played in 38 games (all starts), averaging 31.1 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Since joining the Warriors in February 2025, the team has posted a 50-29 record (63.2% win rate) and currently stands 25-19, holding the 8th seed in the Western Conference.
As a veteran with 15 years in the NBA, Butler has appeared in 907 career games (802 starts), playing for the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and Golden State Warriors. He was selected 30th overall in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Bulls after completing three years of college basketball at Marquette University.
