On January 22nd Beijing time, NBA reporter Logan Murdock revealed that Kerr’s future remains uncertain, and this could be his final season coaching the Warriors.

Murdock stated: "This season is the last year of his contract, and as of Wednesday local time, he has not renewed with the team. Although Kerr has remained tight-lipped about his plans, sources within the organization indicate that several assistant coaches have accepted he won’t return next season, with some already seeking new positions within the league. Last month, longtime assistant Chris DeMarco left the coaching staff to become the head coach of the WNBA’s New York Liberty."

The Warriors currently face difficulties; with Butler out for the season, the team’s competitiveness has clearly dropped. The Warriors hold a 25-20 record, ranking 8th in the Western Conference, but in the seven games Butler has missed this season, they have only won twice and lost five, raising concerns about their future winning percentage.
At 60 years old, Kerr has coached the Warriors for 12 seasons, achieving a regular-season record of 592 wins and 328 losses, a 64.3% win rate, and a playoff record of 104 wins and 48 losses, a 68.4% win rate. He was named Coach of the Year in the 2015-16 season and was selected among the NBA’s top 15 coaches in history for the 2021-22 season. Kerr led the Warriors to championships in 2014-15, 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2021-22.

During his playing career, Kerr spent 15 seasons in the NBA, averaging 6 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 47.9%, three-point accuracy of 45.4%, and free throw percentage of 86.4%. He won four championships with the Bulls and one with the Spurs.
