On February 9th Beijing time, Wizards GM Will Dawkins expressed optimism that Anthony Davis will be able to return this season, with a more precise return schedule expected after the All-Star break.

The day before Dawkins' comments, The Athletic, referencing league insiders, reported that the Wizards planned to have the injured 10-time All-Star forward sit out the rest of the season.
Before the trade deadline, the Wizards acquired Davis from the Mavericks in a deal where he was the centerpiece. Since January 9th, Davis has been recovering from a non-shooting hand finger sprain, with an initial return estimate of six weeks.

“AD’s current plan is to return to Dallas to complete the remaining rehabilitation,” Dawkins said. “During the All-Star break, he will undergo another medical evaluation. This crucial checkup will help us assess his recovery progress.”
After a heavy loss to the Heat today, the Wizards stand at 14 wins and 38 losses, second to last in the Eastern Conference, but looking ahead to next season, their roster competitiveness is expected to improve significantly.
In January, the Wizards also acquired four-time All-Star Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks. Despite these two major trades, the team has retained most of its young core, including second-year forward Sarr and rookie guard Trey Johnson.

Dawkins mentioned that Trae Young is also sidelined with a knee sprain and will have a follow-up evaluation during the All-Star break.
“He is still undergoing recovery training on the court,” Dawkins said. “He has started non-contact one-on-one drills and is gradually incorporating some two-on-two competitive exercises... His recovery is trending positively.”
