On February 14th Beijing time, according to reporter Shams, free agent Malik Beasley has signed with the Santurce Crabs, a professional basketball team in Puerto Rico owned by Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny is the ex-boyfriend of model Jenna.

The Puerto Rican top-tier basketball league (BSN), where the team competes, will kick off in March this year. Since last year, Beasley has been under investigation by the NBA for alleged improper gambling activities.
This move allows Beasley to showcase his form and skills ahead of the 2026 free agency period while awaiting the NBA's investigation results.
Sources told ESPN that the investigation stems from allegations during the 2023-24 season when Beasley played for the Milwaukee Bucks, accusing him of involvement in improper gambling on NBA games and related props.
ESPN reported on June 30 that the 28-year-old Beasley is under federal investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. This led to a freeze on all negotiations and contract offers before the official start of free agency. The NBA stated it is cooperating with the federal inquiry.

Two months later, Beasley's lawyer Steve Hanni told ESPN that Beasley is not the target of the federal investigation and has not been charged. The probe has resulted in four people pleading guilty in a gambling case involving former NBA player Jontay Porter.
According to a source in the sports betting industry, at least one U.S. sports betting platform detected unusual betting patterns on Beasley's personal stats around January 2024.
The source pointed to the February 1, 2024 game between the Bucks and the Trail Blazers: before the game, odds for Beasley having fewer than 2.5 rebounds shifted dramatically due to heavy betting on the "under," dropping from +120 to -250. Beasley ultimately grabbed 6 rebounds, causing all these unusual bets to lose.
In the 2024-25 season, Beasley set a Pistons single-season record with 319 three-pointers, averaging 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, while achieving a career-high three-point shooting percentage of 41.6%.
