Kobe's second statue is about to be unveiled! Shaped as Kobe Bryant's father and daughter The third one will be completed next season

On August 2, Beijing time, according to ESPN, the statues of Kobe Bryant and his second daughter Gigi (Gigi) will be unveiled at a private ceremony outside the Crypto arena on Friday local time (note: August 2, United States time).

It was previously reported that as a legendary star of the Lakers, Kobe Bryant will have three commemorative statues, and the upcoming one is the second of the three. In January 2020, Bryant and Gianna died in a helicopter accident.

The first statue commemorating Kobe Bryant outside the Lakers arena is a bronze statue nearly 6 meters high, commemorating Bryant's 81 points against the Raptors, which was unveiled on February 8 local time. The statue's Kobe Bryant wears the number 8 jersey. However, several errors in the statue's marble base were quickly discovered by fans and the media. The names of Jose Calderรณn and von Weaver were misspelled, and there were also spelling mistakes in the English word "decide". In early April, the restoration of the statue was officially completed.

The unveiling date of the second statue (August 2, 2024) and the first (February 8, 2024) have similar numerical significance, representing Bryant's jersey numbers (8 and 24) as well as Gigi's jersey numbers (2).

The statue of Kobe Bryant's father and daughter (the exact shape has not yet been released, the picture above is the work of another sculptor) is located near the statue of the Los Angeles Kings (NHL ice hockey team) to commemorate the team's 50th anniversary. Sources told ESPN that the new statue will be open to the public starting Saturday morning local time.

At the unveiling of the first statue in February this year, Kobe's widow Vanessa revealed that the third statue was of Kobe Bryant wearing the No. 24 jersey. The third statue is expected to be unveiled sometime during the 2024-25 season, sources said.

Bryant spent 20 years with the Lakers in his career, playing in 1,346 regular season games, being named 18 All-Stars, 15 All-Star selections, winning five NBA championships and two Finals MVPs. He was named the regular season MVP in 2007-08 and won two scoring titles.
