On February 24th Beijing time, LeBron's former teammate JR Smith recently expressed on a program that he is confident LeBron will return to the Cavaliers next season.

"Let me clarify, this is just a guess, I’m not sure, purely my own view. But we have a group chat and stay connected. Honestly, I believe he will return to the Cavs next year," JR Smith said, "to finish his last journey there with a perfect conclusion. I don’t think this year is his last; he actually doesn’t need to keep playing, but I think he still has a lot of fuel left in the tank and remains highly influential, especially for a team like the Cavaliers that already has a strong roster."
Salary cap expert Gozlan pointed out that LeBron’s return to the Cavaliers is far more complicated under salary rules than it sounds.
The Cavaliers are expected to exceed the luxury tax apron again next season, severely limiting their maneuvering space. In theory, they could clear cap space and use the $6.1 million taxpayer mid-level exception, but that only adds about $2.2 million more than LeBron signing a veteran minimum and might weaken the current roster.

Gozlan suggested a more feasible contract structure: a 2-year, $8 million deal with a player option and a trade veto. If LeBron signs a two-year deal, only $3.9 million counts against the salary cap; if it’s a one-year contract, only $2.5 million counts.
In other words, if LeBron ultimately returns to the Cavaliers, it’s likely not because they offered the highest salary, but because this team fits him best in terms of salary structure and competitiveness.
Previously, ESPN insider Wojnarowski mentioned on a podcast the possibility of LeBron returning to Cleveland in the offseason. He said that if LeBron wants to come back to the Cavs, he might have to accept a veteran minimum salary. He stated, "If LeBron is willing and able to accept a minimum salary contract, the chance of him returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers is as high as 99%."

LeBron’s latest odds for his next team also show the Cavaliers as the top favorite, with the top five being Cavaliers (+150), Warriors (+250), Knicks (+350), Nuggets (+600), and 76ers (+800).
