Yahoo Sports reporter Tom Haberstroh reported:The NBA is considering invalidating Leonard’s contract with the Clippers because of the “hidden contract” allegations.

Last September, TA reporter Pablo Torre disclosed on a podcast that Clippers owner Ballmer and Leonard made a hidden contract to bypass the salary cap, with Leonard inexplicably gaining $28 million more, and so forth.

If Leonard’s contract is indeed voided by the NBA and he becomes a free agent, the Lakers, Warriors, and Knicks would all show intense interest in signing him.
It’s definitely far beyond these three teams acting as eager suitors; most teams in the league would likely want to take a chance on him.

At 34 years old, Leonard has proven that as long as he stays healthy, he remains an elite superstar. He has played 44 games this season, averaging 32.8 minutes, scoring 28 points, grabbing 6.4 rebounds, dishing 3.7 assists, and making 2 steals per game. His shooting percentages are 49.4% from the field, 38.1% from three, and 90.5% from the free-throw line, with an effective field goal percentage of 62%. His current contract runs through the summer of 2027, with a salary of $50 million this season and $50.3 million next season.

Given Leonard’s level of play, even if he enters free agency this summer, it’s expected he would secure a massive new contract. Although his personal reputation might suffer a devastating blow, as a professional athlete, as long as he continues to perform well on the court, many issues tend to be “forgiven.”

The Clippers currently hold a 27-30 record, ranking tenth in the Western Conference, 5.5 games ahead of the 11th-place Grizzlies and 7.5 games behind the sixth-place Timberwolves. They are basically out of contention for a direct playoff spot but are very likely to secure a play-in tournament berth.

It must be said, the Clippers are undoubtedly the most talked-about team this season, bar none. Last offseason, they built a superteam that turned out to be all hype, then the Leonard “hidden contract” scandal broke, followed by sending Paul home late at night, and recently trading Harden and Zubac consecutively... Regardless of their record, no team can match their media attention.

A wild Clippers team, a wild season.
