Wizards officially update Anthony Davis' injury status: to miss at least two more weeks, has resumed on-court basketball training.

On March 6, Beijing time, the Washington Wizards officially announced that their interior core Anthony Davis, who has been sidelined since January 9 due to a left hand ligament injury, underwent a re-evaluation in Los Angeles on Thursday, with his recovery progressing positively. According to the team, Davis has been cleared to begin limited individual on-court basketball activities. The team plans to re-evaluate him in two weeks and will provide an update at that time. This means Davis will be out for at least another two weeks.

The Wizards acquired two veteran stars, Davis and Trae Young, via mid-season trades, both of whom were injured at the time. Currently eliminated from playoff contention and aiming to protect their 2026 top-eight protected first-round pick, these acquisitions are primarily focused on the 2026-27 season.

However, Trae Young is ready to return from his quadriceps and knee injuries and will make his Wizards debut today; the team has not yet ruled Davis out for the season. In fact, after the trade deadline, Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins stated he expects the 32-year-old star to play before the end of the 2025-26 season.

Whether this expectation materializes remains to be seen.

Prior to Dawkins' post-trade deadline press conference on February 9, several reporters speculated that Davis might not make his Wizards debut until the fall. With less than six weeks left in the season and the 16-45 Wizards having no reason to rush back the 10-time All-Star, this update also indicates he is still some distance away from participating in contact drills or being cleared for full competition.

The update on Davis' recovery progress to be released by the team in two weeks will provide a clearer indication of whether he can return to the court this spring.
