Brunson willing to represent Jamaica at the Olympics! Could assemble multiple NBA stars, potentially becoming a super dark horse.

On March 12 Beijing time, in the latest episode of "The Roommates Show," Knicks star Brunson admitted that he is willing to represent Jamaica in this grand event.

Brunson is widely regarded as one of the top point guards in the NBA today, even among the league's best players. As an elite player, Brunson represented the USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup; unfortunately, he was not selected for the 2024 Paris Olympics roster.

In the two years since, Brunson's superstar status has further elevated, giving him a better chance to be selected for the 2028 USA Olympic team. However, he might compete as a member of another national team. Here is the dialogue from the show:

Hart: "Do you know I have German ancestry? I might get a German passport and play for the German national team."

Alvarado: "So what are you (Brunson) going to do? Just let him go to Germany?"

Brunson: "If he wants to, then go ahead."

Alvarado: "Would you play for the USA team?"

Brunson: "Not sure. I might also play for another country."

Hart: "You could play for Jamaica."

Although there was a slight debate among the group about Josh Hart and Brunson's eligibility to represent other countries, co-host Matt Hillman pointed out that Brunson currently does not qualify due to nationality issues.

Hart: "If he wants to play, they'll help him get it sorted."

Alvarado: "Exactly, they'd do anything to get him to wear the jersey. Do you (Brunson) think it would be good to play?"

Brunson: "Yeah, I think it's okay."

Currently, the Knicks, with a 41-25 record, are a genuine championship contender in the East, and Brunson is the core reason for this. The team's offense is entirely initiated by him; he is the most crucial piece in the Knicks' system.

This season, Brunson averages a team-high 26.2 points per game, along with 3.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists, with a shooting percentage of 46.5% and a three-point percentage of 37.7%.

Even though stars like Curry are also competing for spots on the 2028 Olympic team, if Brunson maintains this level, he still has a strong chance of being selected. However, joining the Jamaican men's basketball team is also an attractive option.

Over the past two seasons, Jamaican men's basketball has seen a wave of star influx. The team already has NBA players like Nick Richards and Josh Minott, and star-level players such as Norman Powell, Ausar Thompson, and Amen Thompson may also represent Jamaica in the future.

Besides these three, reports indicate the Jamaican national team is also trying to recruit Isaiah Stewart, Devin Vassell, and even Scottie Barnes. In summary, if recruitment succeeds, Jamaican men's basketball will become a formidable threat among world powers.

Therefore, although nationality issues might currently prevent Brunson from representing Jamaica, whether this Knicks superstar ultimately makes this decision remains something to look forward to.
