Jeanie: I hope to see James retire wearing Lakers jersey, but the decision is entirely in his hands.

On April 20 Beijing time, former Lakers owner and current Lakers shareholder Jeanie Buss was asked about James' future on a radio program, and she gave a clear response.

The host asked Jeanie: "How much do you hope LeBron James ends his career with the Lakers, retiring as a Lakers player?"

Jeanie Buss replied: "I've always said, I hope to see him retire wearing Lakers jersey. But he will become a free agent this summer, and the final choice is entirely in his own hands. Even entering his 23rd season, he remains a highly valuable player in the league, and everything he has achieved is miraculous. However, the decision ultimately lies with him. As a free agent, he will certainly weigh all options, or perhaps not. Maybe he just wants to quietly fade away and retire without fanfare."

Later, Jeanie cited Kobe Bryant as an example: "Frankly, one of the most precious gifts Kobe left us was announcing in November of his final season that it would be his farewell season. This gave us ample time to honor and bid farewell to him. No matter which away city he went to—Sacramento, Boston—the love and tribute from fans everywhere moved even Kobe himself. I believe LeBron will likely receive similar treatment in the future. But how to bid farewell depends entirely on the individual, on how he chooses and feels at peace. Now, all the initiative lies in LeBron's own hands."

It is worth noting that in mid-February this year, Jeanie once discussed James' future, stating at that time that James had not given any signal about returning to the Lakers.

"Never say never, but he indeed hasn't given any signal about returning," Jeanie said at that time. "He has the right to decide the direction of his career, and he always surprises people."

Do you think James will still wear Lakers jersey after this season? Feel free to leave your comments and opinions.
