8 for 2! Timberwolves major trade! All-star guard teams up with Edwards

Here we go, another major trade.

Insider Shams:Charlotte trades LaMelo "Melo" Ball and Josh Green to Minnesota for Naz Reid + 1 first-round pick + 3 first-round pick swaps + 3 second-round picks.

With this, the Timberwolves form an all-star backcourt duo of Ball and Edwards, while the paint remains guarded by four-time DPOY Rudy Gobert, signaling a major shift in the team's style next season—at least offensively, it will be dominated by the perimeter.

Ball was born on August 22, 2001, the third overall pick in the 2020 draft. He is a 6'7" combo guard with a 6'9" wingspan. His current contract runs through the summer of 2029, with a total salary of approximately $130 million over the next three seasons.

During his time with Charlotte, Ball spent six seasons without ever making the playoffs. He played 303 regular-season games (280 starts), averaging 31 minutes, 20.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, with shooting splits of 41.8%/36.5%/84.7%. He won Rookie of the Year in 2020-21 and was an All-Star in 2021-22.

Finally, best wishes to the Timberwolves and to Ball. Looking forward to this partnership sparking surprising energy.
