Lakers sign three players to training camp deals! 'Cream Abdul-Jabbar' arrives, along with a steals specialist and a vertical-leap king

Per NBA draft insider Chappell Keevia on June 26 Beijing time, the Los Angeles Lakers have inked Exhibit 10 training camp agreements with Robbie Avila of Saint Louis, Chase Ross of Marquette, and Robert McCray V of Florida State.

The 6'10" center Avila, nicknamed "Cream Abdul-Jabbar," led the Billikens to a 27-4 record and was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year. He averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over 35 games to earn that honor. Before transferring to Saint Louis in 2024, Avila rose to prominence at Indiana State, where he displayed polished low-post skills and passing ability, and his thick black-rimmed glasses made him highly recognizable.

The 6'4" senior guard Ross led the Big East Conference with 2.3 steals per game this season, earning a spot on the conference's All-Defensive Team. He averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists over 32 regular-season games while playing 33 minutes per game.

McCray V, also 6'4", was Florida State's leading scorer and assist man, earning All-ACC honors for his outstanding play. He possesses explosive athleticism, with a maximum vertical leap of 1.09 meters (about 43 inches).

An Exhibit 10 contract is non-guaranteed and can later be converted to a two-way deal. If a player is waived before the regular season begins and spends at least 60 days with the Lakers' G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, each can receive a bonus of up to $91,000.
