$17 million! Simmons listed a 489-square-meter mansion in New York for sale: a small profit from changing teams?

On March 7, Beijing time, according to the New York Post reporter Emily Davis, Clippers player Ben Simmons has put up for sale his apartment in Brooklyn for nearly $17 million. The 28-year-old left for the Clippers last month after striking a buyout deal with the Nets, and now he's ready to sell the five-bedroom mansion.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the listing. Simmons bought and combined the two apartments for $14 million in 2023. The combined condominium is located in the Olympia-Tambal Building, a 33-story ultra-high-end tower adjacent to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Located on the 21st floor of the tower, the residence has a total area of 5,261 square feet (approximately 489 square meters). An insider involved in the deal told the New York Post at the time of the house purchase: "The house is so big that he might be able to play basketball in his apartment." ”

Despite three unsatisfactory seasons with the Nets, it looks like Simmons has built himself a comfortable home in the high-end Olympia Tower.

The photos listed for sale show traces of Simmons' previous residence, such as a bedroom that has been converted into a home gym, an acrylic display case that runs from the floor to the ceiling filled with his collection of bear statues, and a special shoe cabinet. In the fall of 2023, Simmons once took people from Esquire Australia magazine on a tour of his home to show off his all-star ring.

There are five full bathrooms and two half-baths. The home has an open-plan kitchen, a small bar, underfloor heating, and an entertainment area with a home cinema and guest lounge area.

The real draw of the apartment, though, is its 322-square-foot (about 30 square meters) wrap-around terrace, which overlooks the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Since its opening in early 2023, the Olympia Tower has attracted many wealthy and celebrities from across the East River. Just last year, the tower listed a record $19.5 million condo on its 32nd floor.

The New York media ridiculed that it was unclear whether Simmons' new home in Los Angeles could match the luxury and style of his Tamba apartment, and that his new home would most likely not have a view of Manhattan.

So far this season, Simmons has played in five games with the Clippers, all off the bench, averaging 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 58.3% from the field.
