On March 23, Beijing time, according to Shams of the Athletic, sources said that the Warriors will sign forward Kevin Knox until the end of the season. Knox has already signed two 10-day contracts with the Warriors this season, and since players are not allowed to sign three 10-day contracts with the same team in the same year, the Warriors will have to at least commit to playing the remainder of the season in order to sign him again.
In his first 20 days with the Golden State Warriors, the former No. 9 appeared as a substitute in seven games, averaging 4.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.3 minutes per game, shooting 45.8 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from three-point range and 75.0 percent from the free throw line in his limited playing time.
Since 2018, Knox has played 313 regular-season games for the Knicks, Hawks, Pistons, Trail Blazers and Warriors. For most of the 2024-25 season, he played for the Santa Cruz Warriors, a development league team affiliated with the Warriors. In 28 games in the Development League, the 2.03-meter-tall forward averaged 32.6 minutes per game, contributing 21.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 49.5 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point range and 75.9 percent from the free throw line.
As reported over the weekend, the Warriors are soon approaching the deadline to add a 14th player to their roster. The team is allowed to have fewer than 14 players on the regular roster for up to two weeks at a time and up to 28 days in a season โ and the Warriors are close to reaching that 28-day limit.
Assuming Knox's contract is officially finalized, he will receive a salary of $345412 for the remainder of the season. With the signing of Knox, there will still be one vacancy on the Warriors' 15-man roster. Assuming the new signings only cover the remainder of the season, the Warriors should still have plenty of room below the hard salary cap to add a 15th player at any time.
Prior to today's game against the Hawks, the Warriors were 41-29 and in sixth place in the West.
