On August 8th, Beijing time, according to renowned reporter Jack Fischer, the Warriors have reached out to Giddey's agent to show interest in the Bulls player, and they are closely watching Brogdon as well. So far this offseason, the Warriors are the only team that hasn't made any signing moves.
Giddey and Kuminga are both restricted free agents, and negotiations with their respective teams have stalled. However, noted reporter Brett Siegel indicates that there is a significant difference between the two: Giddey has a higher likelihood of staying with his team. Previously, some media suggested a swap between the two to resolve the issue.
However, Siegel pointed out that unless there is a major turnaround in negotiations, Giddey is likely to remain in Chicago for the foreseeable future. Currently, aside from the Warriors, other teams in the league are not pursuing Giddey.
The Bulls previously traded for Giddey by sending away Caruso, intending to view the Australian guard as a long-term core for the team, a vision that remains unchanged. Just like Kuminga initially hoped for a new contract with a salary of $30 million, Giddey is also comparing himself to players who can command that level of pay.
In negotiations, Giddey's camp has referenced players like Suggs and Quickley—Suggs signed a five-year, $150 million extension with the Orlando Magic, while Quickley reached a five-year, $162.5 million extension with the Toronto Raptors in 2024.
The Bulls' stance is that they insist on a new contract averaging around $20 million per year, as Giddey is still in his growth stage and has not yet reached the expected All-Star level. A problem with comparing Suggs and Quickley to Giddey is that those two benefited from a general increase in free agent market value at the time of their big contracts. In the 2024-25 season, Giddey played 70 regular-season games, averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists.
Another player the Warriors are interested in is Brogdon, who only played 24 games last season due to injury, averaging 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
