Caps' Hall of Legends Tristana skin has just been unveiled and is facing fierce backlash.

Riot Games officially revealed the 2026 Hall of Legends collection for Caps, where Tristana takes center stage as the high-end Immortal variant. Yet, rather than generating enthusiasm, the design instantly caused debate, as it is deemed unworthy of the G2 Esports legend's stature and the steep cost.

Caps is the player honored at the Hall of Legends 2026, following in the footsteps of Faker and Uzi. Riot selected Tristana as the main skin, while Orianna also has a Legendary Rising skin in the collection.

According to the official Hall of Legends website, the Tristana set comes in multiple tiers. The Rising version is included in the 5,035 RP bundle, the Immortal version goes up to 32,035 RP, and the bundle with Caps' signature reaches 58,865 RP, featuring a range of exclusive effects like special animations, dynamic backgrounds, unique borders, and finisher effects.

This very price tag has caused the community to scrutinize the skin's design more closely than usual.

Right after the splash art and in-game images surfaced, many players felt that Caps' Tristana has an overly pronounced futuristic robot style, easily reminding viewers of skin lines like Project or Super Galaxy rather than a career-honoring product.

A Reddit discussion gained hundreds of interactions, with many saying the design doesn't deliver the special feeling of previous Hall of Legends skins. Some even questioned whether the outfit sufficiently reflects Caps' personal identity.

Tristana was also a surprising pick. When thinking of Caps, fans usually recall Sylas, LeBlanc, Akali, Yasuo, or Syndra more. However, Tristana was used significantly by Caps in the mid lane, and the player himself is said to have been involved in choosing the champion for the skin.

Riot's biggest challenge is that Hall of Legends is no longer seen as a regular skin line. With prices reaching tens of thousands of RP for the premium version, players expect the product to feel "unique" from the very first glance.

Notably, the reaction isn't entirely negative. Some fans appreciate Riot trying a different style instead of repeating the formal gold tones of Faker and Uzi. However, overall, Caps' Tristana is having a more controversial launch than anticipated.

Riot wants the Hall of Legends to become a place that honors League of Legends legends, but the very price and special status of this skin line also make it almost impossible for any design to be "just okay."
