The 2025 KPL Annual Finals have officially started, with the opener played between DRG and JDG. Despite JDG winning against DRG twice in the summer split, after making roster adjustments for the finals, JDG couldn’t keep up with DRG! If they can’t beat DRG, JDG will probably struggle against other S group teams as well.
In the first game, JDG claimed the lead. But in the second game, DRG demonstrated their master-level strength! Within the first minute, Goya secured first blood by diving the tower but was soon taken down himself. At 9:50, DRG countered at the red buff, then in a river team fight used Taiyi Zhenren’s resurrection to trade one for two and secured the Shadow Tyrant. At 12:30, Yang Jian flanked and used his resurrection skill first, allowing JDG to trade one for two in the team fight. At 18 minutes, DRG took control of the Shadow Twin Dragons, pushed down the top outer turret with dragon soldiers, and crushed the crystal to even the score!
In the third game, at 1:20, DRG killed Angela for first blood. At 2 minutes, Angela quickly supported the top lane to help teammates kill Guan Yu. At 10:20, during a river team fight, both junglers traded kills, then Gongsun Li chased down Cao Cao in the bottom lane. DRG focused down the Shadow Tyrant, while JDG quickly rotated to the upper map to trade for the Shadow Overlord. At 14:30, Gongsun Li dealt continuous damage to finish off Kong Kong’er, then took out Da Siming, allowing DRG to secure the Shadow Tyrant. In the 21-minute team fight, DRG first eliminated Cang, then captured the Storm Dragon King, and pushed straight to break the crystal, reaching match point!
Just when everyone thought JDG would lose 1-3, JDG capitalized on DRG’s mistakes in the fourth game to even the series. But in the fifth game, DRG gave JDG no chance! JDG’s biggest weakness in this game was the lack of a frontline and insufficient early damage. If they couldn’t burst down DRG’s carry quickly, the team fight would immediately turn against them. As long as Wànwàn’s Xiahou Dun held the frontline and controlled positioning, JDG had no solution; Gan Jiang kept poking from afar, and neither Sikong Zhen nor Cang could handle him.
In the end, JDG was defeated by DRG and lost the fifth game. With a final score of 2-3, JDG lost their opening match at the annual finals! The pressure on JDG this year is immense!
Kai’s Unmatched skin is finally coming! This limited edition skin will launch on September 29th, available through a timed lottery, priced roughly between 400 and 500 RMB.
