Many friends said they are quite conflicted now — if it were an epic skin, they wouldn’t hesitate, but since it’s a heroic tier, they’re unsure whether to exchange it. They hope I can analyze it in detail, so today let’s specifically discuss whether Zhang Liang’s new skin is worth redeeming.

Skin Quality

Zhang Liang’s latest crossover skin, Luo Xiaohei Chronicles, is of heroic quality. In terms of effects, this skin is relatively well-crafted and not just a simple recolor like traditional six-yuan flash-sale skins. Besides changing the color to white and gray, it also incorporates many Luo Xiaohei elements, such as the hand patterns in normal attacks, the magical shield design on the first skill, the book and ring patterns in the second skill. Although the overall look is quite understated, it ranks among the better heroic skins. From this perspective, it’s worth considering redeeming.

Skin Options

Zhang Liang is not exactly an unpopular hero and is considered quite good-looking, but for some reason, most of his skins are heroic tier. With the newest Luo Xiaohei Chronicles, Zhang Liang now has four free heroic skins. The other three are the event-exclusive Colorful Scroll, the season-limited Ancient Sea Expedition, and the Lingye Journal given in March this year. Honestly, there are plenty of options, so the appeal of this new heroic skin is significantly reduced. From this angle, redeeming it might not be very meaningful.

Skin Shards

Earlier this year, King listed two crossover epic skins in the skin shard shop: Hou Yi’s Ishida Uryu and Gongsun Li’s Tushan Rongrong. Zhang Liang’s Luo Xiaohei Chronicles is the third crossover skin but downgraded to heroic quality. The three skins together require 224 skin shards. While there are many ways to get skin shards in the game, most require slow accumulation, especially without spending money. For players new to King, these shard amounts can basically drain their resources. Although King is giving away 30 skin shards this time, redeeming Zhang Liang’s new skin still needs an additional 18 shards. Moreover, it’s uncertain whether more crossover epic skins will be offered as shard shop rewards in the future, so it’s safer to reserve more shards just in case.

Final conclusion: If you have plenty of skin shards, play Zhang Liang often, and he still lacks skins, then you can consider redeeming it directly. Otherwise, it’s better not to redeem.
