The best support for climbing ranks in King of Glory Season S41 isn’t actually the so-called Shield Mountain. It’s not that Shield Mountain isn’t strong, but his ban rate is extremely high—over 80% in peak and top-tier matches—making him almost impossible to pick. Even if available, he’s quickly banned by opponents. Therefore, finding another support as a substitute is necessary, and Mozi is an excellent choice.

Mozi’s performance in the new season

So why has Mozi stood out among many supports this new season? Let’s look at his stats. Across all ranks, Mozi’s win rate has reached 53.1%, the highest among all supports. Meanwhile, his pick rate is 13.5%, exceeding 10%, meaning Mozi has become a very popular support hero in games. What’s more surprising is his ban rate, which is 37.8%, also quite high—roughly 4 out of 10 games see him banned. However, compared to Shield Mountain who is almost never available, this is still quite good.

In peak and top-tier matches, although the stats aren’t as extreme as across all ranks, Mozi’s win rate remains stable around 52%, with a pick rate close to 10%, still showing strong support performance.

Why is Mozi favored?

He can extend advantages in lane. Among supports, Mozi is one of the more aggressive ones. Generally, aggressive supports are strong in the early game, with Shao Siyuan being a well-known example. Mozi is similar but even more offensive. His second skill has a very short cooldown, allowing it to be used every six to seven seconds early on. Whenever enemies step out to clear minions, especially in narrow farming lanes, his accuracy greatly improves. Additionally, his second skill includes a brief control effect which, though very short, can disrupt enemy rhythm and shake their mentality effectively.

Mozi can act as a frontline. Commonly, Mozi is seen as a soft support, but in practice, his durability is much better than expected—stronger than most soft supports and not far behind tanky supports. This is because Mozi mainly provides crowd control, so his build tends to focus on tanky items, quickly increasing his survivability. Moreover, after using skills, Mozi gains a shield lasting three seconds that can stack up to three layers, preventing excessive damage.

Finally, compared to other supports like Kong Kong’er and Shao Siyuan, Mozi’s mechanics are relatively simple. The most complex move is probably flashing in to initiate team fights with his ultimate, making him very popular among players.
