Hello everyone, I'm Game Xiaodi.

Have you tried the new hero (Hero's Fate) Liu'er this season? Currently, Liu'er's first-day win rate has been released: 47% across all segments, and about 43% in peak matches and top-tier games. Does it meet your expectations? Additionally, both pick rate and ban rate are quite high, and Liu'er has become the most popular hero across all segments, showing players' great enthusiasm. Since Liu'er is Sun Wukong's Hero's Fate, can Liu'er beat Sun Wukong in a one-on-one?

Liu'er vs Sun Wukong

To understand this question, we first need to know these two heroes: Sun Wukong and Liu'er share many similarities in skill mechanics. For example, both passives give an initial 20% critical rate and 150% critical damage, both can use the Somersault Cloud recall effect, and both gain an enhanced basic attack after using a skill.

However, there are significant differences in the specific mechanics of their active skills. For skill 1, Sun Wukong gains an invincible shield effect, while Liu'er has a control effect similar to Sangqi's skill 1; for skill 2, Sun Wukong has a displacement effect allowing him to jump on a pole, while Liu'er has a "stand on pole" effect that allows prolonged floating; for the ultimate, Sun Wukong has a control effect, while Liu'er has a multi-hit attack that makes him untargetable, similar to Li Bai's ultimate.

Who comes out ahead?

Overall, Xiaodi believes Liu'er's strength is higher than Sun Wukong's, so Liu'er should be stronger.

The strongest point is actually Liu'er's skill 2 floating effect. In this state, all of Sun Wukong's skills, including the enhanced basic attacks after using skills, cannot deal any damage to Liu'er. This floating state lasts about two seconds, which is very long in the game, so it can effectively dodge a large number of Sun Wukong's skills. After all, Sun Wukong mainly relies on quickly landing three enhanced basic attacks for damage.

Of course, a skilled Sun Wukong player will use pole jumping to flexibly kite and won't use all skills in a short time. However, the problem is that Liu'er's skill cooldowns are very short. Without cooldown reduction items, both skill 1 and skill 2 have only 6 seconds cooldown at max level. With 40% cooldown reduction, it's only 3.6 seconds. In this situation, even with kiting, Liu'er won't be at too much of a disadvantage.

More importantly, Liu'er's ultimate can also achieve damage avoidance. When using this skill, there is a brief moment of super armor (about a few tenths of a second), after which he enters an untargetable state. Moreover, if enough energy is available, the final strike also has a knockback effect.

What about Liu'er's damage? It seems quite impressive. From current experience, if Liu'er builds full critical damage items, his damage is extremely violent, almost no different from Sun Wukong, able to instantly delete a squishy target as soon as they appear. However, what suits Liu'er best is actually a semi-tank build. Because his skill cooldowns are short, even with a semi-tank build he can frequently use skills to stack damage, so his output is still considerable. The key point is that it greatly improves his margin for error. With such a sturdy build, he can even withstand three consecutive hits from Sun Wukong without too much trouble, and he can also dodge some skills. On the other hand, Sun Wukong can't easily build semi-tank; after using his three hits, if he fails to retreat in time, he will be completely locked down by Liu'er. Therefore, overall, Liu'er's strength should be far higher than Sun Wukong's.
