Hello everyone, I'm Game Xiaodi.

I wonder if you have the same impression: playing support is the poorest role in the canyon, with consistently low gold income, and games where supports reach full build are rare. So which support heroes have relatively higher gold per minute? That's the question we're answering today. But first, let me clarify: the official support gold-per-minute ranking actually includes many heroes from other roles. So I'm only counting those with the support label, excluding heroes like Xiahou Dun and Jiang Ziya, as including them would make the calculation inaccurate.

First place: Donghuang Taiyi

This might surprise many players, because Donghuang Taiyi isn't picked very often, mainly due to his high ban rate. The reason his gold income is relatively high: on one hand, because of his strong early game, a common strategy is to follow teammates into the enemy jungle to invade. Even without teammates, Donghuang Taiyi might go alone to steal camps like the three pigs. Invading itself brings extra gold income.

On the other hand, Donghuang Taiyi's ultimate is one of the few suppression-type hard controls in the canyon. As long as it hits an enemy, cooperating with teammates makes it easy to secure kills. The kill bounty in this game is quite generous—a normal hero kill gives about 200 gold, and if the enemy is on a streak with few deaths, the bounty is even higher. Moreover, Donghuang Taiyi is a typical tank support, requiring items to sustain his durability, so his playstyle doesn't avoid sharing minion waves. These factors make it no surprise that he ranks first in gold per minute.

Second place: Da Qiao

Da Qiao's second place, in Xiaodi's opinion, is mainly due to her role flexibility. The ranking doesn't strictly separate roles. After multiple reworks, Da Qiao now deals considerable damage, making her fully viable as a mid laner, as seen in professional matches several times. As a mid laner, she gets her own lane gold, though she sometimes has to share it with teammates, but overall it's much better than being a support.

Additionally, Da Qiao's skills have strong area-of-effect damage. Even when played as a support, she can clear waves quickly, earning gold from minions and occasionally securing last hits. This gives her relatively higher gold income.

Third place: Cai Shouyuan (Shao Shiyuan)

This is no surprise, and many players might even think Cai Shouyuan's ranking is too low. From the beginning, her unique mechanic allows her to steal gold from enemies. Although each steal isn't huge, it's extra income that accumulates over time, a capability no other support has.

Moreover, Cai Shouyuan's early game strength is undeniable. Her close-range basic attack kick deals significant damage. If paired with a strong early-game marksman like Lu Ban No.7, first-blood kills are not uncommon, and she can also get first blood, bringing higher gold income.

Of course, even though these supports have relatively more gold, they are still not the core carries of the team. Compared to junglers with over 700 gold per minute, there's still a huge gap. However, their situation has improved a lot recently, thanks to support items that provide a guaranteed minimum income, making them much stronger than before.
