Recommended Chess Piece for Beginners in King's Chess! Why is Yao the Top Choice? Tested to Achieve a Perfect Round Without Losing

Hello everyone, I'm Game Xiaodi.

One of the most unique features of King's Chess is the chess pieces. Matching the right chess piece with the corresponding lineup often creates a 1+1>2 effect. Therefore, understanding the skills of chess pieces is as important as knowing hero cards and lineup synergies. In this issue, we'll dive into the chess piece system of King's Chess.

Chess Piece Details

In King's Chess, the first step when entering a match is to choose your chess piece. Each chess piece has a corresponding passive skill effect. Some are card-related, such as Baige's skill: every 4 hero fusions, you gain an "Impromptu Creation" card. This card randomly copies a hero currently on the field. Additionally, there is an enhanced skill card: every 6 uses of Impromptu Creation unlocks "Born with Talent," granting an "Inspiration Burst" card that splits 3 non-awakened hero cards in your hand into two copies. However, this must be used in the same round, otherwise it disappears (a "transient" effect).

Some skills deal damage. For example, Xiangxiang's skill starts the match by attacking enemies with a weapon, with attack power increasing based on the number of heroes on the field and their levels. The enhanced skill card, "Gun and Art," increases attack power by 20% after dealing a certain amount of chess piece damage to the opponent.

Additionally, when a chess piece reaches level 6, it unlocks a special effect. For instance, Xiangxiang gets "Full Firepower," gaining a percentage attack boost equal to half the total field level sum. Baige gets "Stunningly Talented," allowing you to designate a hero and receive 4 hero cards of that hero.

Best Chess Piece for Beginners

King's Chess currently has nearly 20 chess pieces, and more are constantly being added. So which chess piece is best for beginners? The answer is Yao. The reason is that this chess piece is both simple and very strong.

Let's introduce Yao first. Yao's skill is "Cute Little Deer." At the start of the game, a little deer is summoned to assist. The deer's level increases by 2 each round, and if you win the previous round, it gains an extra 4 levels. Note that the deer has no attack power—it purely serves as a tank.

The enhanced skill card is "Super Cute Little Deer." It is automatically obtained every 3 rounds, with a total of 5 cards: "Magic Little Deer: Taunt" – at the start of battle, the deer ignores collision movement and taunts enemies within 1 grid every 3 seconds, gaining +8 levels; "Magic Little Deer: Heavy Armor" – equips a normal piece of equipment and immediately gains "Froststorm," gaining +10 levels; "Magic Little Deer: Twin" – creates a copy of itself, and after 5 wins, gains +12 levels; "Divine Efficiency: Resonance" – doubles the deer's level; "Magic Little Deer: Sacrifice" – when the deer is defeated, it evenly distributes its level to all heroes on the field.

The level 6 unlocked skill is "Giant Plushie." The deer gains +30 levels and receives a "Deer's Protection" item, which reduces 30% of the damage taken by the wearer.

After seeing Yao's skills, you can roughly feel that it's quite simple. The core idea is that the longer you survive, the deer's level automatically increases without any extra effort from the player. Moreover, the barrier to entry is low because early-game heroes don't deal much damage, making it hard to defeat the deer quickly. With the deer tanking, other heroes can safely deal damage—just avoid facing assassin lineups.

Also, let's illustrate the strength. Suppose you have survived to round 15. What is the deer's level? Each round it automatically gains 2 levels, totaling 30 levels from automatic growth. Assuming half of the rounds are wins (8 rounds), that's an extra 32 levels, making it 62 levels in total.

The five enhanced skill cards add 8, 10, and 12 levels respectively, totaling 30 levels. The level 6 chess piece bonus adds another 30 levels, bringing the total to 122 levels. Don't forget the doubling effect—that's 244 levels. Plus, the deer has a copy, also at 244 levels. These two front-line tanks can last a very long time, so the strength goes without saying.

Xiaodi tested it in a Diamond rank match and didn't lose a single round, maintaining 60 HP throughout and winning first place, even encountering a "King of Kings" player. That's enough to prove its strength.
