Hi everyone, I'm Xiaodi.
Have you ever encountered this situation: your KDA is higher than your teammates', your damage and damage taken percentages aren't low, and your overall performance is good, but the final rating is lower? In this episode, Xiaodi will analyze how the rating is calculated and why this happens.

Actually, the rating system for King of Glory heroes is not very transparent. What players can see is just the tip of the iceberg. The official has not fully disclosed the specific dimensions. We can only see some data on the results screen. That's the premise. As for the specific reasons, here are some points to consider:
First, the rating dimensions differ by role. For example, the same KDA means different things for a marksman versus a support. A marksman typically needs ten or more kills to have a good rating, while a support can get a high rating with just two or three kills.

Because the value of a support lies more in protecting teammates, initiating fights, and taking damage, which are not fully reflected in KDA. If anything, assist count might be a bigger factor for supports. This difference exists not only between marksmen and supports but across all roles. For example, junglers are judged on rhythm and resource control, top laners on split pushing and damage taken, and mages on damage conversion. Each role has its own rating focus, but it's not that obvious. So comparing your data with teammates' is not really meaningful because different roles have different standards.

Second, the data percentages displayed on the results screen are only a small part; they are not comprehensive. The comprehensive rating considers many more dimensions, such as dragon control rate, counter-jungle counts for junglers, vision score and initiation times for supports, and rotation support for mid laners. None of these are shown on the results screen. So the displayed data is just a small portion; the system considers much more when calculating the rating.
Additionally, due to the differences in hero roles, the rating system calculates a weighted sum of many dimensions. Even if a single dimension is very high, it doesn't directly determine the total score. That's why some players have impressive stats but still get a low rating.

Third, the rating for a specific hero is determined by the performance of all players who use that hero. When the overall skill level of players using a hero is higher, the threshold for a good rating rises. The most obvious example is Agudo. Her rating is significantly higher than other heroes because her unique characteristics make her popular among smurf players. These players have high skill and produce great stats, thus raising the bar for ratings.
For a simple example, the same stats might only get a 7 or 8 on a high-threshold hero, but could be 9 or above on a low-threshold hero. So the rating standards for the same hero change dynamically across different versions and ranks; they are not fixed.

So, instead of obsessing over your rating, it's better to focus on your actual contribution in the game. After all, winning the match is the most important thing. Honestly, the rating is mainly used by the system for matchmaking reference. If it's a bit lower occasionally, don't take it to heart. Have you encountered this situation? What do you think?
That's all for today. If you like it, feel free to give a like to support. If you have anything to say, ask, or want to see, leave a comment — I'll read them all!
