Greetings to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Hub.
The last match of the LPL regional qualifiers entered its fourth game. After falling behind 1-2, IG surprised with a mid-lane Taliyah who had a 0% win rate. They controlled the early to mid phases and then snowballed excellently.
In the end, IG successfully completed the comeback from 1-3 to become the LPL’s fourth seed, setting up a match against T1.
IG counters the meta with Taliyah, while JDG’s pace is slow.
In the crucial fourth game, JDG on the blue side picked a bottom lane Luna combo, paired with mid and jungle Lissandra plus Wukong for strong engage potential. Their final pick was top Quasanti, making the team composition quite balanced with solid early to mid game aggression, especially with ultimate-focused combos fully utilized.
IG’s response was unusual, choosing Varus and Braum for bot lane, mid locked in a 0% win rate Taliyah, second round jungle pick Zyra as a carry, and top NAR. The synergy between these picks was weak, relying more on individual skill.
At the start, JDG tried a lane swap strategy, but Xun’s Wukong invasion into the jungle was heavily punished, making level one jungle control difficult. IG gained the advantage and even forced Xun to flash bot lane by tracking his position.
However, IG’s The Shy made some questionable plays. He lost early trades against Lucian and Nami on top, used his TP early, and was forced to recall after taking heavy damage. With Braum’s help, he continued farming. Several skirmishes followed without kills. In the Rift Scuttler fight, JDG secured two, IG got one, and Meiko’s Braum was forced to use his abilities.
The Rift Herald fight was won by IG, who then secured the dragon to gain match point.
During laning, The Shy successfully pressured Quasanti, while Meiko tried to initiate fights mid but ended up with his Varus heavily damaged. No kills occurred, but JDG’s composition clearly lagged behind without kills.
At 15 minutes, Meiko was caught mid and gave up first blood, while Rookie took the first tower on the side lane.
In the subsequent Rift Herald contest, IG chose to engage. GALA’s ultimate initiation succeeded, quickly eliminating JDG’s support. As reinforcements arrived, The Shy was caught too deep and killed. IG then surrounded and killed Scout’s Lissandra, followed by two more kills, turning the fight into a 4-for-1 advantage and gaining tremendous momentum.
Falling behind, Peyz panicked and tried to outplay GALA mid but failed, resulting in an IG counterkill. Rookie was given a chance on the top side but was caught and died.
Around the 20-minute mark, The Shy was caught and killed in the jungle but without further losses. IG held a 4000 gold lead and three dragons. JDG’s attempt to contest Elder Dragon failed and turned into a farming phase, allowing IG to take Elder Dragon uncontested.
At 23 minutes, JDG found an opportunity in the jungle to open with Zyra, killing three enemies but losing their jungler. They then made a poor decision to contest the dragon.
An LPL miracle unfolds, with GALA playing a crucial role in the rescue.
Without a smite, JDG stubbornly tried to take the dragon but GALA’s precise arrow stole it away. IG gained the Dragon Soul and, after regrouping, took the Baron. JDG’s attempt to contest was easily defeated by IG’s teamfight, and IG secured Baron, effectively sealing the game.
With Baron buff, IG pushed forward. JDG made a desperate teamfight to kill GALA but IG still won the fight and closed out the match.
In my opinion, this match was a miracle created by IG’s “all-god” roster. After losing the first game and facing a huge deficit in the second, many viewers thought the match was over and IG was out of Worlds contention.
Yet under these circumstances, GALA’s clutch performance capitalized on opponents’ mistakes with relentless damage, almost single-handedly turning the tide and bringing the series to a third game. Both teams’ mental states shifted, IG revived their form to claim the third game. By the fourth game, JDG’s strategy clearly faltered.
Despite having a strong engage composition, JDG failed to gain an early lead, losing lane control and multiple dragons to IG. A critical Rift Herald fight collapse led to the situation spiraling out of control.
Finally, GALA’s decisive arrow marked a perfect ending to the game. Following this, IG will enter Worlds as the fourth seed to face Faker’s T1.
