In the first round of the 2025 Valorant Champions global knockout stage losers bracket, DRX knocked out G2 2-1 to move forward in the losers bracket.
Map one: Lotus Ancient City
Defending side DRX: Yoru, Omen, Viper, Viper (Weisi), Fade
Attacking side G2: Yoru, Jett, Omen, KAY/O, Viper
After DRX secured the pistol round in the first half, in round 5 G2 caught four DRX players at site C, with free1ng opting to save his gun. G2 then went on a five-round winning streak. After DRX’s second timeout in round 10, they counterattacked to take A site, successfully making an impact. In round 11, G2 broke through site C again to regain control of the match. In round 12, free1ng showed great form with a four-kill clutch defending against G2’s attack on site C. During the first half, G2 adapted well to DRX’s defense, and despite DRX calling two timeouts to adjust against G2’s silent entries and isolated duels, the effect was limited. The half ended with G2 leading 8-4 over DRX.
In the second half, DRX won the pistol round, but G2 took the bonus round and scored two consecutive points. In round 17, MaKo secured a 1v2 clutch on site A. However, G2 quickly defended site B successfully. G2 scored three consecutive rounds to claim the victory on map one.
Map two: Hollow Depths
Defending side G2: Yoru, KAY/O, Astra, Sova, Chamber
Attacking side DRX: Yoru, Sova, Omen, Fade, Chamber
In the first half, DRX won the pistol round and started strong by breaking through G2’s defense to gain five rounds. G2 only managed to win the bonus round, suffering economic collapse throughout. G2’s timeout did not improve their situation, while DRX went on a six-round winning streak. In round 10, G2 rotated to defend site B, where valyn’s triple kill helped secure their second point. G2 then scored three consecutive rounds, closing the half at 8-4 in favor of DRX.
In the second half, G2 mounted a six-round winning streak. In round 17, DRX again had rifles and rotated to defend site B but ultimately failed to win. In round 19, DRX changed to a triple B defense with free1ng holding site A alone; G2’s attempt to control mid failed, allowing DRX to defend and score points. DRX then won four straight rounds to reach match point. In round 23, DRX executed a full site take with all five players, HYUNMIN (Fade) used his ultimate to dismantle G2 one by one, and DRX won map two 13-10.
Map three: Source Stronghold
Defending side DRX: Yoru, Phoenix, Viper, Jett, Fade
Attacking side G2: Yoru, Brimstone, Phoenix, KAY/O, Viper
In the first half, DRX won the pistol round. By round 3, DRX had taken down four rifles from G2. JoanhP won a clutch to secure the bonus round. DRX then went on a three-round winning streak. In round 7, G2 rushed site A for a comeback round. Throughout the first half, G2 lacked rhythm, and their timeout had no effect; meanwhile, DRX grew stronger. MaKo repeatedly clutched for his team today. DRX led 10-2 at halftime.
In the second half, G2 won the pistol round, but DRX then took the bonus round and two more rounds to reach match point. In round 17, G2 defended site B perfectly with a flawless team kill. G2 then won three consecutive rounds to chase match points. However, in round 18, DRX used all five ultimates to rush site B and secured the round decisively, winning map three and eliminating G2.
