Introduction: The S15 season has officially started, and it’s believed that the majority of players have been closely watching the recent confrontations. Most regions are in a short break now, and the main focus is on the World Championship battles. The LPL and LCK have competed for many years, but in recent matchups, the LPL has performed poorly, getting easily controlled by the LCK annually. This season’s changes made the opening match of the Worlds a huge deal. Some fans compiled stats showing LCK’s top pro players’ win rates against LPL, revealing that mid-laner Faker holds a 70% win rate and has never lost a BO5 on the World Championship stage against LPL teams. However, data analysis shows that Doran has been a weak link, with only a 40% win rate.
Most players are quite familiar with the LCK region, widely regarded as the world’s number one region. Over recent years, their overall development has been rapid, and their results have remained consistently strong, securing multiple World Championship titles in a row. Although the LPL has opportunities to reach the finals, they simply cannot withstand the pressure from top-tier teams. Currently, the hottest topic among fans is the matchup between IG and T1. Judging by the overall season form, T1 is clearly superior, and their World Championship performance has a reputation. However, with a new top laner this season, it remains to be seen if any issues will arise.
Yesterday’s discussion about LPL players’ win rates against LCK sparked a lot of fan debate. Fans recompiled the win rates of LCK’s top pro players, and the gap with LPL remains significant. The highest LPL win rate against LCK is mid-laner Knight with just 53%, while many top LCK pros have win rates exceeding 60%, some even surpassing 70%. To start, Faker’s career record is 75 wins and 41 losses, a 64.66% win rate. His BO1 win rate is 70%, and BO5 stands at 68.4%. Even more impressively, on the World Championship stage against LPL teams, he maintains a perfect 100% BO5 win rate; his losses only came at MSI or other international events.
Next is the well-known Chovy, whose overall small-scale win rate is 47.17%, with 25 wins and 28 losses. His BO5 win rate is 62.5%, with five wins and three losses. He only began facing LPL teams after the S9 season, so his match count isn’t very high. Another familiar name, Ruler, also has a limited number of matches, with an overall win rate of 53.85%, 21 wins and 18 losses. He has played five BO5 series with a 60% win rate. Ruler’s limited matches are because he previously competed in the LPL for a while and took a few years off; otherwise, his match count would be higher.
Currently, the most unfortunate team is probably IG. Their win rate against LCK is low, with only AD carry Gala having a win rate above 50%. With T1’s World Championship momentum, can they really win this crucial matchup? Looking at T1’s World Championship records against LPL from S3 to S14 seasons, they have lost only eight games in total. The teams that have beaten them include OMG in S3, RNG in S6 and S7, JDG in S12 and S13, and TES in S14. IG can only hope to perform exceptionally well.
Although it’s sometimes hard to accept the facts, the reality must be faced. Before the matches even begin, IG’s win rate has already dropped below 50%. Recently, the players’ Korean server accounts have shown no updates, likely because they are intensely training on alternate accounts. Meanwhile, the LPL has assembled a super-strong practice squad, surely aiming to help IG prepare for the official matches.
