The League of Legends S15 World Championship has ended. T1 and KT fought intensely through five matches, with T1 emerging victorious 3-2. Following this BO5 win, T1 broke multiple historical records: Faker’s World Championship assists exceeded 1000, the bot lane pair secured a three-peat making them the best ever, and Oner equaled the legendary Bengi’s record as the second jungler to claim three World titles.

Faker now holds six World titles, which speaks for itself. This BO5 was truly thrilling. KT reached match point first but lost the next two games, surrendering the championship to T1. BDD gave his all, performing at full capacity every game, but his teammates underperformed. In game four, if Cuzz had secured one or two more Smite battles, KT could have closed it out 3-1. The final game was similar — if the support had played normally, they might have lifted the trophy.

Judging by the result, it’s clear there’s a big gap between four stand-ins and four regular starters. In the last game, Doran actually gave many chances. After a strong 3-0 start for T1’s top lane, the mid-game score shifted to 3-5. BDD lost numerous bounties, and in the most frustrating moment, Doran even dove into the enemy base to feed. In the finals voice chat, Oner asked Doran: “Don’t you want to win?” Even Faker criticized him: “You played way too recklessly.”

However, that dive into the base isn’t entirely Doran’s fault. Faker was connected to the Shurima network and instructed Doran to look for an opportunity up there. But Doran, with a blank mind, just rushed in and fed. The questioning was just teammates joking around. When Doran felt guilty, his teammates comforted him, and Faker even told him to take a deep breath. This shows how harmonious T1’s team atmosphere really is.

After Doran won the championship, many viewers questioned his skill. Some even took the chance to belittle Zeus, saying “The God King is not a person, but a position.” This comment both undermines Doran and diminishes Zeus’s value. But watching all five games, except for Doran’s somewhat reckless Renekton and Camille in games three and five, he performed well in the other three matches.

In team fights, Wolf flashed in with his ultimate to catch key targets, and Tahm Kench disrupted the enemy formation. Doran had many highlights. Compared to his other teammates, his performance was slightly weaker, but against KT’s top laner PerfecT, he looked like a god. In the final game, aside from the base dive and one other mistake, Doran created many perfect opportunities for the team’s Graves to unleash his ultimate.

So criticizing Doran excessively is really unnecessary. Among these five players, it was his first final, and having a nervous heart is normal under such pressure. Remember, Zeus, who once held the title of “World One,” lost the championship in S12. Doran has actually done quite well. Interestingly, after T1’s victory, former top laner Zeus also posted congratulations, probably already regretting leaving the team.

If Zeus hadn’t left, he would have been a three-time World champion top laner alongside his teammates. It’s a pity. But if Zeus were still on the team, it’s hard to say if T1 would have won, since his playstyle leans toward lifesteal and tank sacrifice, which is rare to see in Worlds. Based on this year’s Worlds performance, Zeus wasn’t much better than Doran. In HLE’s losses, he never stepped up.

BDD’s finals performance this year was truly unfortunate. Burning out in five games and still unable to win shows that becoming a World champion depends on more than just skill; luck plays a big role too. In the last two games, if just one more teammate had stepped up to share BDD’s pressure, KT might have overturned T1 and taken the championship.
So, what do you think about Doran’s performance?
