Recently, BLG revealed ELK’s exit along with ON and Knight extending their contracts. On December 1st, BLG followed up with two significant announcements: the comeback of xun and the signing of Viper.

First came the announcement of xun’s return. BLG’s official statement declared xun’s formal comeback to compete again in the LPL with BLG. They praised his playstyle and jungle control, acknowledged his past contributions to the team, and expressed hopes to maintain their synergy and write new chapters together over the next two years.

Without pause, BLG then announced the biggest news of this transfer period: Viper’s return to the LPL by joining BLG. The official statement confirmed Viper’s signing and participation in the LPL with BLG. BLG’s official account also reviewed Viper’s achievements, recognized his current form and performance on stage, and expressed anticipation that after three years away, Viper will create new successes in the coming year.

From the previous announcements, it’s clear that knight, ON, and xun all signed two-year contracts, while Viper only committed for one year, likely leaving renewal dependent on performance. It’s normal for Korean imports not to sign long-term deals, since the overall strength of the LCK currently surpasses the LPL. For better chances at world championships, LCK is a more attractive option. Still, Viper’s willingness to return to the LPL for a year is quite surprising, indicating BLG showed strong sincerity and that he has confidence in BLG’s roster for next year.

Next year’s BLG lineup is set: top laner bin, jungler xun, mid laner Knight, and bot lane duo Viper with ON. The dual carry setup looks solid with all top-tier players. The top-jungle-support synergy might be less stable, but compared to this year, BLG’s overall strength has improved significantly. The biggest challenge now is the coach. According to Zhu Kai’s leak, IG’s coach Danny is currently in talks with BLG. Although Danny didn’t lead IG to great international results this year, IG’s progress was obvious, and considering his previous success with WBG, his joining BLG would be a major boost.

Although BLG’s dream of winning the championship with an all-Chinese lineup was shattered again this year, abandoning that concept has made the current roster stronger and more promising. If under a good coach’s guidance, the players with unstable performance can find their optimal playstyles and deliver consistent results, BLG will definitely remain one of the strongest contenders for the LPL title next year.
