Greetings to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Review.
After the end of Season 15, various teams have been actively maintaining or assembling new lineups during the transfer window, gearing up for the upcoming season. During this process, IG released another documentary that shares many behind-the-scenes stories.

In this documentary, The Shy caused some dissatisfaction among certain viewers because of his new controversial statements.
The Shy reignites controversy with remarks about equipment issues
The IG documentary covers a lot of content, including a segment reviewing a dispute among teammates. Jiejie expressed dissatisfaction with the mid and top lane strategies, arguing his point firmly, while The Shy responded with his own defense. Since Jiejie later left the team, some viewers suspect there was discord between Jiejie and the mid-top duo, but IG ultimately chose to keep the mid-top players.

From the review, Jiejie wanted the top lane to prioritize the team, whereas The Shy insisted he was being contained defensively.
Then came the section about the World Championship. Here, The Shy made controversial comments, saying that their match against T1 was unfortunate. At that time, their form was very good, and he felt they could have won the World Championship. However, during the first game, equipment problems occurred, preventing him from delivering his ideal gameplay.
The Shy considered it bad luck and regrettable. He further stated that if they had beaten T1, he believed they could have advanced far, possibly reaching the finals.

These remarks were criticized by viewers as an excuse-shifting tactic. Considering The Shy's failed tower dive with Rek'Sai in the first game, many see him as the main reason for losing that match.
Faker was previously criticized by viewers for similar remarks
Indeed, there was a pause during the first game between T1 and IG due to some on-site equipment issues. But honestly, this should not be used by players to justify poor performance. If equipment problems affect a player's operation or judgment, they can request a pause for referee assistance.

Generally, unless equipment issues directly cause a player to fail to perform correct actions affecting the game, it is hard to justify a loss simply by blaming bad luck from equipment.
That said, equipment problems can affect a player's mindset, but this is part of the competition, especially in the first game of a world championship match where pauses are most likely. The impact affects both sides, and experienced players should handle such situations properly.

This brings to mind Faker's famous saying: when you lose, everything you say is wrong. If the losing player cannot provide convincing objective reasons, they will be criticized or blamed by the audience.
Faker was also attacked by LPL fans for similar comments, though it was later proven to be taken out of context.
S9 World Championship, The Shy's mistake costs the team the match
In my opinion, The Shy's peak career level is truly rare in history. But honestly, aside from his peak, he has made too many individual errors that cost his team matches. During S9, he was still able to self-reflect, but some later interviews showed problematic attitudes.

In the peak showdown between FPX and IG, The Shy's Angel champion died repeatedly, causing the team to lose. That match was a real pity because IG was one of the most talented teams in LPL history but failed to achieve better results at Worlds.
Afterward, The Shy became obsessed with long-range top lane playstyle, wasting his prime years. Now past his peak, although his playstyle is more stable, he still caused his team to lose at this year's World Championship due to mistakes, and in the documentary, he blamed equipment issues.

This also recalls The Shy's comment after losing to Faker while playing for WBG, wishing he were younger. Essentially, age is not the biggest problem for The Shy; it is his professional attitude. He could perform better but hasn't, which is the core reason many fans feel disappointed in him.
