Hello to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Review.
The first stage of the LPL determined the playoff qualifiers via the Knights' Road matches, with the top eight teams competing after the New Year. Following tradition, the LPL also chooses the best lineup for the first stage regular season.

Commentator Miller recently shared his own selections in a video, which sparked considerable debate.
Miller’s best lineup picks exclude Bin from top lane
This year, the LPL's peak group strength has arguably hit a historic low. Matches between peak teams often turned into chaotic brawls, with many teams making absurd mistakes. Strictly speaking, there is no top-tier team or outstanding player currently in the LPL.

However, the best players still need to be chosen, and they must be selected from the six major teams in the peak group who performed relatively well.
Miller shared his opinion, giving the top lane spot to JDG’s Xiaoxu. He said he chose Xiaoxu over Bin because Xiaoxu’s performance was more impressive, and he had several signature champions that left a strong impression.
For jungle, the pick went to Tarzan, which is hardly controversial. Among the six junglers, Tarzan showed the most consistent performance. Miller also believes Tarzan is the best candidate for regular season MVP. Considering both team results and individual performance, this is indeed accurate.

In the mid lane, Miller chose Knight, which is somewhat contentious. He sees Knight as BLG’s absolute core, similar to Tarzan’s role in his team, shouldering the responsibility of leading the squad.
Bottom lane strongly supports Viper, causing fan dissatisfaction
Knight’s main issue is his poor individual performance in BLG’s losses, especially when facing HongQ and Crème, where their aggressive playstyle broke through him. However, compared to HongQ and Crème, Knight’s overall record is better.

Even in lost matches and games where he was solo killed, Knight’s team contribution remains significant, with his hexagon stats very full. So despite some controversy, Knight still has a strong chance to be selected as the best mid laner.
The bottom lane choice sparked major debate, as Miller directly awarded the best bottom lane spot to Viper, which upset many viewers.
Miller chose Viper over Elk, believing Viper had better results. But compared to Hope, Viper’s stats are inferior. Also, most fans feel Viper’s actual performance was quite average, often staying hidden and suffering multiple early deaths.

In contrast, fans favor Elk as the best bottom laner, and think Viper is even below Hope, placing him third.
Finally, the support position was undisputed, with Miller selecting Kael. Despite generally poor performances from supports, Kael maintained a solid individual form.
LPL talent decline makes the Asian Games even tougher
This year’s overall LPL situation is bleak, even worse than last year. The main reason is the further decline in league competition intensity. The LPL is currently in a talent drought, relying mostly on veterans whose form is also fading. At this point, the LPL needs a team capable of defying the odds and creating miracles.

The LCK once had such a team in DWG, which almost single-handedly saved the region. Later, DRX and T1 rose to restore LCK’s global dominance. But now, it’s unlikely the LPL will produce a team like DWG, as it lacks the environment to nurture top-tier teams and talent.
It’s worth noting that this year’s Asian Games will also select national teams, but currently, the LPL struggles to form a lineup competitive with LCK’s national team. Personally, I think the LPL’s atmosphere is poor; it lacks a sense of ambition and hard work. Many players seem to coast along without progress, which makes achieving good results impossible.

We can only hope that after the New Year playoffs, one or two teams will burst out strongly, bringing some hope to the fans.
