During yesterday’s live broadcast, a moment captured in the players’ lounge sparked widespread discussion after the match.
After defeating Faker, DK player broke down in tears due to immense pressure
Here’s what happened: T1 took an early lead by winning the first two games and gaining three match points. In the first game, the bot lane Zeri and Yuumi combo shined, opening a breakthrough. In the second game, DK’s support Career picked Blitzcrank but performed poorly, leading to a disastrous 0-2 start for DK. In the third game, DK fell behind again in the early and mid phases, and many thought the match was over.

However, T1 repeatedly lost dragons, allowing DK to stall the game. Because of their aggressive lineup, T1 opted to force a Baron fight but was ambushed by DK, resulting in heavy casualties.
DK successfully secured a point back, and after the game ended, the live stream switched to the players’ lounge. Initially, the scene showed normal conversations and reviews between players and coaches, but soon viewers were shocked to see DK support Career crying loudly alone in a room, with coach cvMAX standing before him.

If we ignore the match outcome, the scene looked like cvMAX was scolding Career so harshly that it made him cry. But since DK actually won the third game, this was puzzling—players usually don’t cry during a match but release emotions after the entire best-of-five. Staying emotionally controlled and focused is crucial during play.
Reason revealed after the match: overwhelming pressure caused emotional breakdown
Career’s crying episode ended quickly, and DK refocused on the match. Career performed well, and DK once again overcame adversity to push the series to a deciding game. In the final game, Siwoo’s Gwen shined, capitalizing on T1’s mistakes to clinch the victory. During the post-match interview, the host asked cvMAX about the moment when the player cried.

The host inquired if Career’s tears were triggered by something cvMAX said, perhaps a harsh review or strong criticism.
cvMAX explained that Career cried due to accumulated pressure. He told Career that his first game wasn’t good, but the second game with Blitzcrank was actually quite solid. He said to Career, “If only you had played like that in the first game.” After winning the third game, Career’s emotions burst out; he felt sorry for his teammates. cvMAX was trying to comfort Career but admitted he might not be good at consoling, which made Career’s crying more intense.

From cvMAX’s post-match interview, it seems he had a private talk with Career about gameplay. Hearing certain words caused Career to lose control—perhaps cvMAX praised his performance. Overall, it was the pressure that overwhelmed him, fearing poor play would hurt the team.
DK’s young core shines, leads Xu Ge to top three finish
Career is the youngest member of DK and faces huge competition pressure. He replaced BeryL, so poor performance could risk being benched. Given this stress, Career losing emotional control is understandable. Judging by this BO5, his performance was quite good—maybe not as strong as Keria but not a liability, showing decisiveness in critical moments.

In my opinion, several DK players performed well in this BO5, especially in team decisions and micro plays. They defeated the experienced T1. Even Xu Ge, the often criticized mid laner, played decently, though not as well as the young four. Fans posted humorous comments after the match, saying Xu Ge almost agreed to a lower placement, but the four youngsters dragged him into the top three.
Among the young four, Lucid and Smash stood out the most. Lucid made crucial smite steals and played aggressively, while Smash completely dominated Peyz in lane.

In the next round, DK will face BFX, a team specializing in bot lane. To beat BFX, DK will likely need Siwoo to gain an advantage in the top lane and prepare a strong bot lane draft, ready to counter or avoid being countered. As long as they can limit Diable’s growth, DK’s chances of winning are high.
