The biggest victim of T1 emerges, Oner receives severe backlash and disables comments; the underlying reasons revealed, fans are displeased with him.

Hello to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, welcome to Tianxia Game Report.

In the previous LCK Cup losers' bracket series, T1 was initially up two games but was shockingly overturned by DK in a 3-2 comeback, leading to their exit and missing the opportunity to compete in the Hong Kong finals qualifiers.

Following the match, the main scapegoat within T1 emerged—not Peyz but the jungler Oner.

T1’s scapegoat, Oner, faced such harsh criticism that he had to disable comments.

The game T1 lost to DK exposed many issues. After the match, most viewers felt that Peyz performed the worst on the team, being completely outmatched by Smash in lane, with a poor showing overall. Peyz’s playstyle tends to favor a carry-oriented bottom lane, which also limited Keria’s roaming effectiveness.

Besides Peyz, Faker’s form was also lacking. In the fourth game, Faker’s Galio was dominated by ShowMaker, and after calling for jungler Oner to heavily target Xuxi, the opponent ended up with a 0-5 lead. Despite the huge advantage, Faker’s Galio made several misjudgments in teamfights, and Oner’s tanky Yone failed to control the fights.

Overall, although Doran made mistakes in the deciding game, his performance was solid, as was Keria’s. The bottom lane with Peyz was the weakest link, followed by Faker and Oner.

Unexpectedly, Oner was the one who received the harshest criticism. On foreign forums, many viewers attacked him, forcing Oner to disable comments. Subsequently, Oner’s agency took action, stating they will pursue legal measures against online slander and abuse to protect the player.

The reason behind this revealed: fans’ lack of acceptance.

Let’s evaluate Oner’s individual performance. In my opinion, his worst game was the third match playing the mantis. That mantis pick was purely detrimental, as despite getting kills, it failed to make an impact. The key question is whether this champion choice was directed by the coach or Oner himself; if it was Oner’s decision, that’s a significant problem.

Honestly, that champion should never have been picked. Perhaps T1 relaxed after securing three match points, leading to the mantis pick.

Additionally, Oner lost several dragon fights in this BO5 series, but the main responsibility for two of those losses lies with Peyz. The usual spear-pulling combo for contesting dragons failed, and Peyz even stepped out of range, causing the team to lose the dragon.

Overall, Oner’s performance was acceptable and certainly not the worst on the team. So why was he the most criticized?

The reason is straightforward: fans simply don’t like Oner. Within T1, there has always been an unofficial scapegoat hierarchy. When Gumayusi was still on the team last year, he was the most criticized. What many don’t know is that the player most likely to be blamed after Gumayusi was Oner, who has frequently faced fan attacks due to poor performances in past leagues.

After Gumayusi left, Oner became the main scapegoat.

Many viewers ask why Peyz doesn’t get criticized. The answer is simple: Peyz replaced Gumayusi’s position, and the segment of T1 fans who like to criticize players despised Gumayusi the most. Now that Gumayusi is gone, even if Peyz performs poorly, these fans won’t blame him.

As for the rest of the team, it’s even less likely. Among T1 fans, Faker is basically immune from criticism, though outside of T1’s fanbase, Faker still receives some hate from detractors.

In summary, T1’s top scapegoat “Little Lu Bu” has left, and Oner has taken over as the primary target for blame.

From an objective standpoint, I believe Oner’s overall performance in the first split was quite good; most of the time, he was a key player for the team, only making some mistakes in crucial matches.

Comparing group stage and playoff performances, Faker and Peyz failed to meet expectations, especially Peyz, who was clearly the team’s weak point and needs to adjust. Faker’s form also declined compared to the group stage; it’s evident he could have played better in many matches but didn’t. Additionally, T1’s draft and in-game decision-making require significant improvement.
