VCT Masters: Trent's cold-faced gunplay delivers precise justice, G2 defeats XLG 2-0

In the second round of the Swiss stage's 0-1 group at the Valorant San Diego Masters, G2 defeated XLG 2-0. G2 advances to the 1-1 group, while XLG is eliminated in the second round of the Swiss stage.

Map 1: Split

Defending side XLG: Astra, Omen, Sova, Breach, Yoru

Attacking side G2: Neon, Astra, Killjoy, Sova, Breach

XLG took the lead by winning the pistol round in the first half, but G2, led by leaf's performance, caught up and equalized the score.

In round 7, XLG changed their defensive strategy, aggressively pushing to take down G2's attack and secure the round.

In round 11, trent and babybay combined to eliminate all five XLG players on site A.

In round 12, JAWGEMO's Neon activated her ultimate and rushed site A, while babybay held the angle from A second floor to cut off XLG's retake.

The first half ended with a back-and-forth battle, resulting in a 6-6 tie.

In the second half, G2 went on a five-round winning streak on defense. In round 18, Lysoar cleared the front area of site A, allowing XLG to stage an eco-round comeback.

In round 21, XLG's two duelists pushed into site B and were eliminated. G2 then controlled the map by pressuring site A and mid, leaving the remaining two XLG players with little room to maneuver. G2 ultimately won Split 13-8.

Map 2: Haven

Defending side G2: Chamber, Phoenix, Yoru, Astra, Fade

Attacking side XLG: Sova, Neon, Killjoy, Omen, Viper

XLG won the pistol round in the first half. In round 3, JAWGEMO's Guardian secured picks in mid, helping G2 win the bonus round.

In round 4, XLG struggled to enter site A and were delayed when rotating. They failed to save their five rifles, pushing XLG into an economic downturn.

G2 went on a winning streak, while XLG suffered consecutive losses and economic collapse. XLG managed only one comeback in round 8, thanks to NoMan's flank play. The first half ended with G2 leading 9-3 over XLG.

In the second half, JAWGEMO's triple kill in the pistol round led G2 to victory. G2 then won four consecutive rounds to close out the map, eliminating XLG and advancing to the next round.
