Will T1 consider switching back to Gumayusi?

T1's first stage has come to an end, and they will have to wait until the second stage in April at the earliest to re-enter the crowd's view. After T1's loss to HLE, the discussion about them continued to heat up. In addition to the departure of Zeus, which has a relatively high impact this year, Gumayusi's replacement for the young player Smash has also caused some controversy. Of course, no one has questioned the young player's ability during the previous winning streak, and it is even widely believed that he is indeed better than Gumayusi. But after the defeat, some people began to think that it was better to change back to the old 4 and add a Doran. Will T1, who are in Stage 2, really change again?

Doran doing his best

Doran's outstanding performance against HLE not only did not make him the target of trouble after the game, but won unanimous praise. Even though it seems to many that Doran can't replace Zeus after all, at least the biggest reason for the loss of the first stage of T1 is not the top laner. Since entering T1, Doran has shown an excellent hero pool, almost covering everything from the tank to the C position, and he has done his best for the team. T1 couldn't have found a new laner in the second stage, which would be outrageous.

Smash is stable and excellent

There is nothing too big a problem with the performance of Smash itself, and if you want to question the hero selection of T1 against HLE is too tooly, it is also a problem with the results of the entire BP of the T1 coaching staff. Smash does have a higher Carry ceiling than Gumayusi, especially heroes like Zelikasha, who has a big heart when he debuted young, and his personal ability is beyond doubt. Even if T1 loses to HLE, we can't find any reason not to start him.

What does Gumayusi bring?

Gumayusi is the conductor of T1? Or is it the core of T1's atmosphere? Or maybe it's an important player in T1? If any of these are satisfied, then T1 can indeed try to switch back to Gumayusi in the second stage. In terms of ability alone, the younger Smash is clearly already on top of it. The upper limit for the old 4-man Championship Group is higher, which is perhaps the most effective answer for Gumayusi to return to T1.

However, judging from the content of the T1 vs. HLE match, even if Smash is replaced with Gumayusi, the ending may be similar. After all, even though Gumayusi has won two World Championship championships with his team, he has not been superior in the LCK in recent years, whether it is against Ruler, Peyz or Viper. The lack of proof of his own strong Carry is the fundamental reason why many ADC veterans have always disapproved of him.

Frequent substitutions are a big no-no

T1 has had a bad season due to inconsistent rosters due to constant substitutions. The lineup that can win the championship in the past two years is also a lineup that has been determined for three or four years after Zeus joined the team. Whether it's Gumayusi or Smash, T1 shouldn't change players too often, and it's best to be sure that one set will play the whole season.
