During the transfer period of the second segment of the LPL, many players lost their jobs due to roster adjustments, such as the top and jungle supports from NIP and the support from JDG. These players were all kicked out for poor performance in matches. Ale has high potential and can gain an advantage in lane, but he also has a low floor, often inexplicably throwing games in team fights. As for Missing, there's no need to mention him; his personal form has been consistently poor throughout this entire season.
However, the synergy between Wink and Peyz hasn't been great either. There are rumors online that JDG has brought back Mi Shen, but it's currently unknown when he will play. Among the three brothers from NIP, aside from Shan Ji, who has had in-game conflicts with Doinb, Aki and PPgod have performed poorly, and being eliminated was expected. The most puzzling situation during the transfer period is IG jungler Jiejie, who had a conflict with the management, leading to his benching.
In IG's announced roster for the third segment, Jiejie is still on the list, and according to the official roster, he is still with IG. Clearly, even though he hasn't played, his contract is still with IG. Everyone thinks that if Wei is not in good form, Jiejie would have a chance to play, but EDG's youth training manager, Lao Yue, recently revealed during a livestream: Zhao Lijie said he can't return, and Wei is locked in, accompanying IG until the end.
If this is the case, then Ale's earlier revelation about Jiejie going home should also be true. Lao Yue's information about other teams might not be very accurate, but EDG's news has generally been reliable. He personally asked Jiejie and got the answer that he can't return. So this year, we probably won’t see Jiejie on the LPL stage. To put it bluntly, he has been benched by IG, and someone needs to pay to get him out.
Everyone should still remember LNG's Weiwei. Although he hasn't played for a long time, he is still on LNG's roster. Previously, he partnered with TheShy to win a world runner-up. LNG gave him a big contract, but as the matches progressed, his performance declined, and he hasn't played since. However, LNG spent so much money that they would rather keep the player on the team than actively terminate the contract. His situation is quite similar to Jiejie's.
As a world champion jungler, Jiejie's signing fee must be substantial. The top six teams in the LPL, which have the strength to compete in the world championship, are currently not lacking in junglers. Therefore, in the short term, it's unlikely anyone will buy Jiejie. He will have to wait for the transfer period or until his contract ends to become a free agent. Many people, upon hearing this news, feel that Wei has taken Jiejie's job, but this claim is somewhat unfair.
After Jiejie had a conflict with the management, IG was already planning to change junglers. Even if it wasn't Wei, there would be other players joining IG, so the notion of job-stealing doesn't hold true. Jiejie's skills are solid, but his playstyle doesn't quite fit with IG's. Both the top and mid lanes prefer to pressure and gain an advantage early, requiring the jungler's help for ganks and counter-ganks, while Jiejie's style leans more towards farming in the early game.
When personal style clashes with team strategy, if there’s no change, he will definitely be replaced. However, after so many years, Jiejie has always played this way, and he won't be able to change it in a short time. Therefore, IG can only look for a new jungler. Jiejie's signing fee is not low, and his contract is considered an asset for IG. If the club terminates the contract actively, they will incur significant losses, so they can only keep the player until someone comes to buy him.
In the next six months, it’s highly likely that Jiejie won’t play unless Wei has several consecutive poor performances, which might prompt the club to call Jiejie back. However, since there has already been a conflict, even if they call him back, Jiejie may not necessarily return. Thus, both sides are currently at a standstill, and it depends on whether Jiejie's contract is only for one year.
So what do you think? Does Jiejie still have a chance to return?
