Bao Phương Vinh made an impressive debut at the World Carom 3-Cushion Billiards Championship

Maintaining his outstanding form from the previous World Cup, Vietnam’s leading player Bao Phương Vinh delivered a perfect opening match in Group M at the 2025 World Carom 3-Cushion World Championship held in Antwerp, Belgium.

Bao Phương Vinh showcases his strength in the opening match of the world tournament

After setting a scoring efficiency record and earning a bronze medal at the World Cup, Phương Vinh and his teammates chose to stay in Antwerp to participate in the World Championship – the most prestigious event in the carom billiards community. Riding the momentum, the 25-year-old started confidently with his first three innings scoring 5, 3, and 5 points, quickly taking a 13-3 lead over Luis Bahamondes (Chile). He sustained a powerful attacking rhythm with innings of 5, 9, 3, and 5 points, interrupted by only two blanks, concluding with an almost flawless 40-13 win over the South American competitor. Remarkably, Phương Vinh achieved an impressive average of 3.33 points per inning in only 12 innings.

Experts believe these recent swift victories indicate Phương Vinh is entering the peak phase of his career, with a more comprehensive and confident playing style. Whereas previously he focused mainly on offense with less attention to defense, now his shots are carefully planned, always incorporating a "defense within offense" strategy that forces opponents into difficult positions whenever they respond.
