Dương Quốc Hoàng wins decisively 9-0 against Thai player

At the Pattaya Open 2026, Vietnamese players made a strong impression from the qualifying round. Nguyễn Khánh Hoàng defeated Woojae Kim 9-3, Trịnh Văn Bình overcame Kitikorn Vetchakul 9-5, Nguyễn Văn Sinh beat Rachpon Nanthavatsiri 9-2, and Hoàng Thái Duy won against Veli Matti Savolainen 9-2. All four representatives in the qualifiers advanced to the winners' bracket with convincing victories.

However, the first round of the winners' bracket saw a shift in momentum. Nguyễn Khánh Hoàng lost to Jesson Pada Marabi 3-9, Đinh Ngọc Duy was defeated 7-9 by Marvin Asis, and Nguyễn Văn Sinh narrowly lost 7-9 to Nicholas Tan. The young players Sinh and Ngọc Duy fought hard but lacked composure in the decisive racks.

On the other hand, Trịnh Văn Bình defeated Aaron Francois J. Vancoppenolle 9-7, Chu Việt Hoàng triumphed over John Tae Kyung Kim 9-4, and Hoàng Thái Duy maintained his steady form by beating Chang Sheng Yi 9-5.

Most notably, Dương Quốc Hoàng achieved a 9-0 victory over Thai player Tammavirote Aurthaveekul. This result leaves Vietnam with four players in the second round of the winners' bracket, while Khánh Hoàng, Ngọc Duy, and Văn Sinh moved to the losers' bracket.

This year's tournament became even more exciting as the organizers offered a prize of approximately 900 million VND for any player achieving a "9-ball runout," scoring 9 consecutive points in a single inning. This is an extremely difficult challenge even in practice, let alone under official match pressure. The Pattaya Open 2026 takes place from March 2-6 at S1 Pool Hall & Sports Bar, featuring 160 international players and is part of the World Nineball Tour system.
