Ronaldo's Al Nassr openly mocks Karim Benzema

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr wasted no time in ridiculing Karim Benzema following their 2-1 victory against Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal.

Ahead of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup semifinal, Karim Benzema had previously commented that "the best will win" and referred to Cristiano Ronaldo as a "legend." However, Al-Nassr triumphed 2-1 over Al-Ittihad on the night of August 19, and after the match, Ronaldo’s team didn’t hesitate to take a jab at the former Real Madrid teammate.

On social platform X, Al-Nassr posted a cryptic message: “He [Benzema] gained fame under his shadow. Yet today, he thought he would be the best!?” This was a direct mockery aimed at the French striker.

In reality, Benzema only truly stepped into the spotlight at Real Madrid after Ronaldo left for Juventus in 2018, but this has not diminished the mutual respect between the two. Since both players moved to the Middle East in 2023, Benzema’s Al-Ittihad often had the upper hand against Al-Nassr, but this time it was Ronaldo and his teammates who celebrated.

With this win, Ronaldo is just one match away from his first trophy with Al-Nassr. Coach Jorge Jesus’s squad will face either Al-Qadisiyah or Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final at the end of this week.

Ronaldo is in pursuit of his first official title with Al Nassr, as the Portuguese striker continues to show remarkable scoring form at the age of 40.

The 2024/25 Saudi Pro League season has seen Cristiano Ronaldo continue his explosive performances for Al-Nassr. After 30 appearances, CR7 has netted 25 goals, earning him the top scorer title for the second consecutive year. This outstanding achievement places Ronaldo firmly at the top of the league’s scoring chart, well ahead of rivals like Ivan Toney (23 goals) and Karim Benzema (21 goals).
