Coach Kim Sang Sik has received fantastic news regarding the recovery of his star striker ahead of the 33rd Sea Games.
Recently, Dr. Tran Huy Tho, who oversees the rehabilitation of injured players for the Vietnam national team, shared some extremely positive information.
Specifically, Dr. Tran Huy Tho announced that striker Bui Vi Hao is now able to train with the ball after a lengthy injury recovery. In his latest post on Facebook, Dr. Tran Huy Tho shared a bright photo with Vi Hao along with the caption: "Train quickly and get back to the team, Vi Hao. You’ve been with me for over four months now."
This news is a huge relief for fans of Becamex TP.HCM in particular, and Vietnamese national teams in general, as Vi Hao is a key striker for both club and country.
Additionally, Coach Kim Sang Sik will have another quality attacking option ready to chase the men’s football gold at the 33rd Sea Games, especially with the U23 Vietnam team recently crowned champions at the Southeast Asian U23 Championship. Looking further ahead, Vi Hao could also become a vital core for the 2026 U23 Asian Cup if Vietnam qualifies in September.
Previously, in March this year, Vi Hao suffered a torn ligament in his right ankle during a training session with Becamex Binh Duong (the predecessor of Becamex TP.HCM). The 2003-born star was expected to be sidelined for at least 6 to 8 months before fully recovering.
However, Vi Hao has managed to recover somewhat sooner than initially anticipated. Earlier this month, Dr. Tran Huy Tho posted a video of the 22-year-old player taking tentative steps, indicating he is ready to begin an advanced phase of his rehabilitation.
With this remarkable progress, Vi Hao is likely to regain his form and join the U23 Vietnam squad for the 33rd Sea Games this December. His proven experience and goal-scoring ability will be assets for Coach Kim Sang Sik’s tactics, helping the whole team aim for the gold medal.
For now, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his U23 squad will regroup in early September before starting their campaign for the 2026 U23 Asian Cup qualifiers.
