It has been revealed that Manchester United will make a €10 million offer for a top goalkeeper! Sir Jim Ratcliffe has changed his mind, having previously refused to sign Emiliano Martínez for Amorim.

Manchester United are expected to try to sign a goalkeeper during the final week of the transfer window. Reports suggest the club is preparing a €10 million bid for Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in Belgium. However, this amount may not be enough, as the club values their 23-year-old keeper at nearly twice that figure.

The two current Manchester United goalkeepers, André Onana and Altay Bayındır, have never shown consistent form since joining two seasons ago. If anything has remained constant, it’s their repeated mistakes on the pitch.

Onana, who joined from Inter Milan for €50 million, has failed to replicate his previous ball-playing abilities and has made numerous costly errors. Backup keeper Bayındır has also struggled, especially when defending against corners.

In the match against Arsenal, Bayındır’s weak attempt at coming off his line contributed to United’s defeat, drawing heavy criticism.

Although United manager Rúben Amorim has done well to strengthen the attack this summer, the team still lacks a reliable goalkeeper. Despite his public satisfaction with the current options, the reality is quite different.

During this summer transfer window, United have been linked with several goalkeepers, including Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG, though he appears more likely to join Manchester City instead.

Another candidate is Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez. Villa seem determined to keep the Argentine international, unless they receive a substantial offer—reportedly around £40 million.

According to English media, Amorim initially requested the club to sign Martínez at the start of the summer window, and Martínez was also eager to join United. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS team ignored the manager’s advice, believing the 32-year-old Argentine was too expensive for his age.

Another goalkeeper is now expected to become United’s main target. According to TEAMtalk, Premier League transfer expert Dean Jones claims that United will bid for Lammens, as Sir Jim prefers to sign younger players.

Romano stated: “Manchester United still want to bring in a goalkeeper. I continue to keep an eye on Lammens from Antwerp, a very talented Belgian keeper. United have tracked him for a long time—back in July or August, I mentioned their interest, and it’s never gone away. If United decide to invest in a keeper before the window closes, Lammens is a strong candidate. So, it’s definitely possible.”

However, United’s €10 million valuation is unlikely to satisfy Antwerp, who are asking for €20 million, or at least €17 million to make a deal happen. Still, Lammens is now the top choice for United’s management. His price is reasonable, his age is ideal, and he is willing to accept a backup role, but also has the potential to challenge Onana for the starting spot.

United legend Wayne Rooney once said the club shouldn’t worry about Donnarumma’s high wages and should just sign him. However, Ben Jacobs stressed that such a transfer is impossible. “Manchester United will not sign Gianluigi Donnarumma,” he said concisely.

Reports claim Donnarumma has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City, and if United want to hijack the deal—which is extremely unlikely—they would first have to sell one of their current keepers, and it must be Onana, not Bayındır.

If both Donnarumma and Onana were at the club, the goalkeepers’ combined salaries would be astronomical, far exceeding what De Gea and Sergio Romero earned in the past. De Gea was previously United’s highest earner, but his weekly wage of £375,000 pales in comparison to what Donnarumma is demanding.
