Fixo Pham Duc Hoa shared some insights about the Vietnam futsal team ahead of the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers.
The Vietnam futsal team is currently training intensively at the Q8 Futsal Club Arena (Ho Chi Minh City) in preparation for the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers. This training camp marks the return of fixo Pham Duc Hoa after a long absence due to injury. He commented:
"My performance is not yet at 100% following the injury. However, I will strive to readjust to the competition intensity. After 7 months, I am back with the national team. Compared to before, the team has undergone major changes; without mentioning Ho Van Yi’s injury, there are many young players with great potential. I believe this is currently the strongest squad in Vietnam’s futsal history."
Regarding the group stage, Pham Duc Hoa commented: "This group is tougher than before. As we know, the Lebanon team has been absent for a long time and remains an unknown factor. In the past, Vietnam’s futsal team faced Lebanon once or twice and it was always challenging. This time, there is very little information about them, almost none. Meanwhile, China has also changed a lot and developed well. Nevertheless, coach Diego Giustozzi and the players aim to finish top of the group."
As previously reported, Vietnam’s futsal team will be without their number one goalkeeper Ho Van Yi in this tournament due to recent ligament surgery. On this, Duc Hoa said:
"Ho Van Yi has been a pillar of the team for a long time, arguably contributing 50% of the team’s strength. His injury creates an opportunity for other goalkeepers to compete for the position. The goalkeepers called up this time, like Khanh Cuong and Van Tu, have all been performing well in national competitions. Losing Yi is a big loss, but the remaining goalkeepers are playing well and meeting the coaching staff’s expectations."
The Vietnam futsal team will continue training at the Q8 arena before departing for a training camp in Kuwait from September 9 to 14. There, coach Diego Giustozzi and his team will play two friendly matches against Kuwait’s futsal team. After the camp, the team will travel to China to compete in the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers.
