Rumors are circulating about a former student of Erik ten Hag coming to Vietnam to play football.

Currently, many rumors suggest that Nam Dinh Club intends to recruit Dutch defender Mitchell Dijks to boost their strength for the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two.

It is rumored that Nam Dinh Club is negotiating with Dutch defender Mitchell Dijks,a former player under coach Erik ten Hag at Ajax. Although there has been no official confirmation from the Nam Dinh team, speculation about Dijks potentially joining Thien Truong Stadium has attracted significant attention from fans.

The defender, born in 1993, recently parted ways with Fortuna Sittard at the beginning of August and is currently a free agent. Some sources claim that Nam Dinh has reached a preliminary agreement to bring Dijks in, but he will be registered only for the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two instead of the V.League. Coach Vu Hong Viet's team reportedly wants to reserve foreign player slots in the domestic league for center backs, midfielders, and forwards.

Mitchell Dijks was once a notable name in the Netherlands. He developed through Ajax's youth academy, played for their first team, and worked under coach Erik ten Hag during the 2017/18 season. Additionally, the 1.94m tall defender has experience playing for Bologna (Italy), Vitesse Arnhem, and multiple seasons in the Eredivisie.

If the deal goes through, Nam Dinh will gain a valuable option for continental competitions. In Group F of the AFC Champions League Two, Nam Dinh will face tough opponents such as Gamba Osaka (Japan), Ratchaburi FC (Thailand), and Eastern FC (Hong Kong, China). Notably, the match against Gamba Osaka is expected to be decisive for advancing, and coach Vu Hong Viet likely wants his best players ready.
