A 2.06m tall striker in Vietnam breaks the world record for tallest player

Nam Dinh FC's foreign player Kyle Hudlin has been overtaken by another player who broke the world record for tallest player.

According to statistics from Topend Sports, Kyle Hudlin of Nam Dinh FC, standing at 2.06m, ranked sixth among the tallest footballers worldwide as of November 2021. However, considering only outfield players who are still active professionals, Kyle Hudlin was the tallest striker in the world at that time.

Joining Nam Dinh FC during the recent transfer window, Kyle Hudlin immediately attracted attention with his impressive height. The forward born in 2000 also showed remarkable form by scoring two goals in his official debut for Nam Dinh FC in the National Super Cup against CAHN FC.

Unfortunately, less than a month after arriving in Vietnam to play, Kyle Hudlin's record as the tallest outfield player in the world was broken. The current tallest player is Podkolzin, a former Dallas Mavericks NBA player, who stands an imposing 2.26m tall.

Although a former NBA star, Podkolzin was recently recognized as a professional footballer when he played for Amkal Moscow in a match against FC Kaluga during the second round of the Russian Cup. Standing at 2.26m, Podkolzin officially holds the record as the tallest player in the world at present, including goalkeepers and retired players.

Podkolzin, standing 2.26m tall, played professional basketball in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks from 2004 to 2006. However, after retiring from basketball, he was invited by the president of Amkal Moscow to play football, a club that was recently established.

In the match between Amkal Moscow and FC Kaluga, Podkolzin impressed by winning almost every one-on-one duel thanks to his imposing physique. He even came close to scoring a goal but missed the opportunity.
