Milan acquires a forward: 5 million euros loan for Boniface for 1 year, including a 24 million euro option to buy; market value 40 million euros.

AC Milan supporters have at last witnessed their team sign a new attacker. Latest reports from Italian transfer specialist Romano reveal that AC Milan arranged a loan-to-buy agreement for 24-year-old Nigerian striker Boniface from Leverkusen. The club paid 5 million euros to loan Boniface for one year, including a 24 million euro purchase option that may convert into an obligatory buy clause upon activation of specified triggers.

Boniface joined Leverkusen in the summer 2023 transfer window for a fee of 22.6 million euros from Saint-Gilloise. Over two seasons at Leverkusen, he played 61 matches in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 12 assists, winning one Bundesliga title and one German Cup, and was named Bundesliga Player of the Month in August 2024.

Now 24 years old, Boniface stands 1.90 meters tall, is right-footed, and primarily plays as a center forward. His contract with Leverkusen runs until 2028, with a market value estimated at 40 million euros by Transfermarkt. Last season, injuries limited him to 27 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions, including 16 starts and 1386 minutes on the pitch, yet he still managed to score 11 goals, maintaining a strong scoring rate.

Why did Leverkusen sell Boniface at a low price? The main reason is the player’s personality issues; otherwise, a 24-year-old forward valued at 40 million euros would not have transferred to AC Milan for a total fee of 29 million euros.
