Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United is nearly closed. Yet, so far, the English winger has not secured a new destination, and the cause has been disclosed.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the main reason for the stalemate in the deal stems from the agent’s demand for a commission fee as high as 10 million Euros to persuade the English player to agree to join, while the total transfer fee for this deal is only around 20 million Euros.
This huge figure has caused many potential clubs to hesitate. Juventus and Atletico Madrid, two clubs that showed special interest in Sancho, are reportedly withdrawing from the race. Although they highly value the talent and revival potential of the 25-year-old player, the agent’s fee combined with salary burdens makes the deal unfeasible for both Serie A and La Liga representatives.
In this context, AS Roma emerges as the most promising candidate to sign Sancho. The Italian capital club is actively negotiating with Manchester United and is determined to finalize the deal before the summer 2025 transfer window closes.
According to Gazzetta, coach Gian Piero Gasperini is very optimistic about the chance to acquire Sancho. The experienced manager believes the English winger’s talent fits well with the flexible attacking philosophy he is building at the Olimpico stadium. Additionally, Roma’s owners have shown strong determination, ready to open their wallets to meet financial demands, including the 10 million Euro commission, salary, and transfer fee.
From Manchester United’s side, they want the deal resolved as soon as possible. Sancho is no longer part of coach Ruben Amorim’s plans after internal conflicts lasting two years. Keeping a high-paid player who rarely plays only adds to the wage burden and affects the squad rebuilding strategy.
With less than two weeks before the transfer window closes, Sancho needs to quickly find a new club to salvage his career. At 25, the former Borussia Dortmund star still has time to return to top form, and Roma could be the ideal lifeline.
If the deal succeeds, Sancho will have the chance to reaffirm his value in Serie A. Conversely, if everything falls through, the prospect of him being “stuck” at Old Trafford, continuing to train alone, is entirely possible.
