Midfielder Marc Klok has received his first call-up from coach Patrick Kluivert to the Indonesia national squad.

Midfielder Marc Klok has officially been called up by coach Patrick Kluivert to the Indonesian national team, preparing for the FIFA Matchday fixtures in September 2025. This marks a significant milestone in Klok’s career and highlights the persistent effort of the Dutch-born player in establishing himself within Indonesian football.

At 32 years old, Klok continues to maintain consistent form and is regarded as an experienced asset in Indonesia’s midfield. Speaking on Persib club’s official site, he expressed his emotions openly: “I am both thrilled and proud at the same time. This is the result of many months, even years of hard work. My goal is to play as much as possible wearing the national team jersey.”

Previously, the last time Klok was included in the squad was during the second round of the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers in March 2024. However, he did not get playing time under coach Shin Tae Yong, even though Indonesia secured an important 1-0 victory against Vietnam.

Therefore, coach Patrick Kluivert, who recently took over as Indonesia’s head coach, giving Klok another chance holds special significance. He will join the team to prepare for two international friendlies against Kuwait and Lebanon. These matches are also seen as crucial tests for the upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
