Carvajal begins the new season with heartfelt feelings upon officially succeeding as Real Madrid’s captain.
Following the victory over Osasuna in the opening match of the 2025/26 La Liga season, Dani Carvajal shared emotional remarks with the press. The veteran defender of Real Madrid spoke not only about his comeback after a serious injury but also expressed pride in officially becoming the new captain of “Los Blancos.”
Carvajal stated: “This is a truly special day. I could feel the fans’ support as soon as I stepped out for warm-up. After many months, I can now say that I am here, getting stronger every day. Xabi also told me that I’m in the best shape and should give my all. That makes me very happy.”
A severe injury nearly a year ago almost jeopardized Carvajal’s career. However, with strong determination, the 33-year-old defender persevered in training to return just in time for a highly anticipated season for Real Madrid.
Luka Modric’s departure opened a new role for Carvajal: Real Madrid’s captain. The Spanish defender did not hide his pride: “This is a reward for many years of dedication. Becoming the captain of this great ship is a huge responsibility. I will fulfill it with all my pride, respect for my teammates, and together we will build a winning team.”
Additionally, Carvajal mentioned the competition for the right-back position with newcomer Trent Alexander-Arnold. Instead of worrying, he sees it as motivation: “I have faced competition many times before in my career. In fact, when challenged, I usually perform better. This is a big test, and I believe it will help both of us improve.”
In the new season, Real Madrid aims to conquer La Liga and the Champions League. With his extensive experience and burning desire, Dani Carvajal is not only a defensive pillar but also a spiritual symbol for the “Los Blancos” squad in the journey ahead.
