On August 23rd Beijing time, the seventh day of the WTT Sweden Grand Slam will be held. The updated schedule shows that today will decide the champions of both men’s and women’s doubles, along with the finalists for the men’s and women’s singles. Many top Chinese players will appear, aiming for two titles, sparking major interest. The women’s singles highlight is the showdown between Chen Yi and Sun Yingsha, while in men’s singles, Lin Shidong will face the experienced French player Simon under pressure for a spot in the final. There are many exciting matches; see the detailed schedule below!
In the women’s singles event, we have once again demonstrated strong dominance: out of 9 participants, 4 advanced to the quarterfinals, and all 4 undefeated players secured the semifinals and the final spots. The Chinese women’s singles team still holds a clear group advantage. Next are the semifinals, both of which are internal Chinese battles, so we can enjoy the matches without worrying about who wins or loses. Rising star Chen Yi will challenge the world number one Sun Yingsha again. Chen surprised many by defeating Sun at the US Grand Slam, making this rematch highly suspenseful. Will Sun seek revenge or will Chen pull off another upset? Meanwhile, Shi Xunyao will face world number two Wang Manyu. Given the overall strength difference, Wang Manyu is favored to win!
On the men’s singles side, our last remaining player Lin Shidong continues to fight on three fronts and aims for a place in the men’s singles final. His opponent is the veteran French player Simon, who is a formidable competitor, having already eliminated one of our key players, Lin Gaoyuan. Reaching the semifinals means he is no pushover. Lin Shidong will face strong pressure and challenges, but we hope he can hold firm. There is no excuse now, as the major obstacles Harimoto and Hugo have already been knocked out!
So far, we have secured the mixed doubles title, with Lin Shidong and Kuai Man successfully taking the crown. Today, two more doubles champions will be decided: men’s doubles and women’s doubles. In men’s doubles, Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng will compete against the Hong Kong pair Wong Chun Ting and Chan Ho Wah for the championship. Our duo is a temporary pairing with limited coordination, but we hope they can withstand the pressure and claim victory. In women’s doubles, our top pair Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu will face the Japanese team of Miharu Harimoto and Satsuki Oto for the title. Our women’s doubles team has excellent chemistry and no weaknesses, so defeating the Japanese pair should not be difficult. For the Chinese team, the ultimate goal is to sweep all five singles titles. When rivals meet, only the brave prevail — let’s go!
