Despite a somewhat shaky start to the season, MU has just shared fresh information regarding the injury conditions of their key squad members before the upcoming tough fixtures.
Manchester United is preparing for their Carabao Cup clash against Grimsby Town midweek before returning to Premier League action to host Burnley at the weekend. Coach Ruben Amorim’s team aims to secure their first win of the new season after losing to Arsenal in the opener and drawing 1-1 with Fulham.
In the draw with Fulham, the “Red Devils” missed the chance to claim all three points when Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty, despite the visitors initially taking the lead through an own goal by Rodrigo Muniz. However, the positive news for MU is that no new injuries were reported, giving Amorim more options for the two crucial upcoming matches.
However, MU’s injury list still includes some notable cases. First is Noussair Mazraoui, the Moroccan full-back who has not played since the 0-0 friendly draw against Leeds in July.
He only played 45 minutes in that game before suffering a thigh injury, causing him to miss the first two rounds of this Premier League season. Last season, Mazraoui featured in 57 matches across all competitions, highlighting his importance in the team’s defensive setup. Currently, Amorim has not specified a timeline for the defender’s return.
Lisandro Martinez’s situation is even more concerning. The Argentine center-back is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in the match against Crystal Palace last February. Although he has intensified his training, Martinez is not yet ready to return and is likely sidelined until at least late autumn.
With a congested schedule, especially aiming to defend the Carabao Cup title and improve Premier League performance, MU missing Mazraoui and Martinez will pose a significant challenge for Ruben Amorim. The comeback of these two key players will be vital in the “Red Devils” revival journey.
