Vietnam National Team revealed the roster for the third training session in 2025, including numerous young talents, yet goalkeeper Filip Nguyễn was surprisingly left out.
The Vietnam National Team has just released the list for their third training camp in 2025 with many promising young players, but notably, the overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper Filip Nguyễn is missing. This decision is surprising since the 1992-born keeper continues to perform steadily for CAHN Club in the V-League.
According to the plan, under the leadership of acting coach Đinh Hồng Vinh, the Vietnam National Team will assemble on August 29 and play two important friendly matches against CAHN Club and Thép Xanh Nam Định. This is the third training camp in 2025, intended for experimentation and evaluation of the squad to build a foundation for upcoming matches in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers scheduled for October.
Filip Nguyễn’s exclusion has raised many questions among Vietnamese football fans. The goalkeeper, with Vietnamese-Czech heritage, is regarded as one of the most experienced keepers in the V-League today, known for his excellent positioning and reflexes.
Besides Filip Nguyễn, some familiar faces in the goalkeeper position for the Vietnam National Team are also missing from this camp, such as Đình Triệu (Hải Phòng) and even Đặng Văn Lâm, who previously retired from the national team due to injury.
This list features many young players who have been outstanding in the V-League, including goalkeepers Quan Văn Chuẩn (Hà Nội), Đinh Quang Kiệt (HAGL), midfielder Lý Công Hoàng Anh (Thép Xanh Nam Định), while retaining some key veterans to maintain a balance of experience. The coaching staff aims not only to test tactics but also to discover and nurture new talents capable of competing in upcoming international competitions.
The upcoming friendly matches against CAHN and Thép Xanh Nam Định will be crucial tests, providing acting head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh with more data before starting the Asian Cup qualifying campaign. It’s also an opportunity for young players to prove their abilities, impress the coaching staff, and demonstrate their commitment to the national colors.
Although Filip Nguyễn is not present, fans still hope the Vietnam National Team will showcase a fresh fighting spirit, healthy competition within the squad, and notable tactical experiments during this training period.
